NFL predictions for week one

What will your team (or some other team you want to talk about) do in week one?

My team, the Titans, will be surprising everyone by beating the Steelers. The final score will be 24-17.

The Bears are going to beat Washington 17-13. It’ll be the first of their 6 wins this year.

The Saints will forever redefine both courage and character as they set out for an undefeated run into Super Bowl history.

Then they’ll move to Los Angeles next year and be known as the L.A. Cocksucking Whores.

Rookie QB vs. Washington defense? Uhhh…I’ll take that challenge and call it Washington 13 Chicago 6

The 49ers will lose. I’ll just repost this every week if nobody objects.

I agree.

The Browns will also lose. Seriously, their over under being 4.5 victories was some sort of charity line.

Eagles = win.

I think Orton has a better chance against the Washington defense than the Washington QB (Ramsay/Brunell/Campbell/Whoever) does against the Bears defense, because at least Orton has some playmaking wide receivers and good RB’s backing him up. We shall see though, we shall see…you never know what to expect in week one.

No freaking way. First off, the Skins had one of the top 3 defenses last year, which is particularly amazing given they have almost no offense to help. Losing Pierce will hurt, however.

Orton has Moose and…that’s it. Benson is a complete unknown. Ramsay has Moss and Portis, and I would daresay that Portis is a much bigger given than Benson.

The Skins D is also significantly better than Chicago’s.

I can’t (and won’t!) deny that I’m a Bears fan, but I think you may be surprised at the Bears defense this year since you don’t seem to have a very high opinion of them. They were injured all to hell last year, and the defense still managed to win games with an offense that more often than not was sabotaging their effort. The O-Line isn’t deep, but it should be much improved with people coming back from injury and some additions. Cedric Benson won’t even be starting at Washington, Thomas Jones will be and he was one of the few bright spots on offense last year until teams realized that all they had to do was stop him. Plus they got rid of that crazy offensive coordinator from last year and brought back Ron Turner.

So I think (and hope :) ) that you may be wrong. About week 1 and the overall 3-13 from the other thread (I think that was you anyway).

GO BEARS!

Au contraire, I think very highly of the Bears defense, but I don’t put them in the same league as the Ravens, Redskins, Steelers, Eagles, or Pats. They’re top third, for sure.

I’d like the Bears to put something together, but I think they’re hard pressed at this point just due to lack of personnel. They have stars in Moose, Urlacher, Benson (maybe) and, uh, hrm…

Mark Bradley doesn’t look half-bad for the Bears.

Worried about the Cowboys versus the Chargers for sure… 'boys run defense wasn’t great last year, but have seen good things out of the 3-4 so far… and Ware has been awesome. Maybe this is the changeup they needed… will see against LT.

A little miffed that they picked up Peerless Price though, I honestly don’t think they need him. Well, they do need 4 WRs though…

The 'Boys are becoming the Bledsoe cast off fan club…PP and Glenn…who’s next Ben coates comes out of retirement…Curtis Martin gets traded from the Jets?

Week one- Sorry Oak- you are outclassed. Pats win.

Um, it isn’t Bledsoe they’re the fans of.

Someone on the Dolphins will throw an interception for a touchdown.

I give the Marlins a 50-50 chance of outscoring the Dolphins on Sunday.

My predictions for week 1 (let’s see if I can pick the winner right in half of them):

New England 27, Oakland 17
Chicago 17, Washington 13
Denver 23, Miami 9
Carolina 19, New Orleans 13
Seattle 26, Jacksonville 23
Pittsburgh 24, Tennessee 16
Cincinnati 20, Cleveland 13
Houston 19, Buffalo 13
Kansas City 31, NY Jets 27
Minnesota 27, Tampa Bay 20
San Diego 24, Dallas 16
St. Louis 36, San Francisco 17
Arizona 21, NY Giants 10
Green Bay 23, Detroit 12
Indianapolis 26, Baltimore 17
Philadelphia 26, Atlanta 16

Hmm…looks like I’m not exactly going out on any limbs here.

Game of the Week for me is Chargers / Cowboys. It’ll be interesting to see how they start out of the gate.

Eagles / Falcons isn’t a bad matchup, either. :)

I’m looking forward to the Colts/Ravens game. That Ravens defense does a good job against Manning, and the game always seems to be fun to watch. I hate both teams, but I am pulling for the Ravens, since the Colts are most hated to Titans fans right now.

Bill, maybe that iws true, but I’m waiting to see if Bill P. can win one without Bill B.
