Sorry to double post but I just read this and I’m getting pretty excited for Tumbleseed which I think is available on Thursday. HD Rumble ftw. Polygon… I know, but the dev does the talking.
I know I’m in a minority here but I’ve never understood the appeal of rumble. I want the controller to pretty much melt away in my hands when I’m playing a game and rumble has almost always done the exact opposite of that. It’s like the 3D in movies for me, something that’s meant to be ‘more immersive’ but actually detracts from the experience.
That said, I’m keen to feel this ‘HD rumble’ just out of curiosity.
Granted I haven’t played 1,2 switch but so far hd rumble is basically a slightly more nuanced rumble than other controllers. The most notable use for it that I’ve experienced is in Mario kart where you feel your engine Rev when you boost and certain attacks have certain vibrations. Neat little details but nothing revolutionary so far. At worst blastmaster was unplayable in bed because the hd rumble was so loud it would bother the misses.
Let’s talk accessories!
First, a portable battery pack. Seems kind of difficult to find the right one because of the voltage and current the Switch ordinarily requires. After a bunch of research though and reading through reviews, I purchased this one, which seems to be working well so far:

It has enough capacity to fully recharge the Switch a few times, is really small and compact, and isn’t very heavy at all. And when you don’t need it for the Switch, you can charge two devices at the same time with it.

Finally, I got an Ultra High Speed SD card. 128GB seems like more than enough for now, and from what I read, there’s no benefit in splurging on a UHS-3 card instead of UHS-1.
I bought a screen protector, a case, and a 128 gb card. So far.
The scratching thing is outside of the playable area of the screen, correct? I really don’t want to add a screen protector.
I also posit that if you’re careful with it and don’t Darryl Dawkins “CHOCOLATE THUNDER TOMAHAWK” the Switch into it’s dock, you’ll be OK.
No clue, but the screen protector I got was cheap (10 bucks) and made of tempered glass, so It doesn’t look any different with the protector on than off. Easy to put on, and I guess worth some piece of mind when schlepping the portable device around.
Yeah, I have one as well and they work fine. fairly easy to apply.
Oops. Bought an SD card instead of Micro SD. Bah!

$/GB these are pretty good. It’s what I’m using in the switch with mario kart running off of it just fine. They often drop < $70.
The 128GB Micro SD card I got as a replacement for my mistake was $45.
$45 for 128GB ends up being cheaper, $ / GB, compared to $75 for 200GB.
Are you sure about that math? :)
I figured 128 GB would be enough for now.

$45 for 128 is 35 cents/GB
$75 for 200 is 37.5 cents/GB!
Found a grey one at Target on the way into work today. Grabbed it (and MarioKart), but not sure I’ll actually keep it. But if you see it in the wild, you get it and decide later at this point.
So was already leaning towards returning this. Then I stopped by and saw the price of a second set of controllers. And more memory. And yeah…taking it back. The upfront cost for a second (third if you count PC) system is just too rich for my blood.
Sell it to me.

I actually bought one, just dealing with Walmart and them taking over a week to get it to me. I was sick of going into stores every other day and never finding one. Everyone else seems to be able to just walk into a store and pick one up. And then you don’t even want it!
