Oh-hohohoho, you’re crazy! Seraphina is awesome. :)

There is a voice volume control but I wouldn’t mess with that, as that’s for the character selection barks and they’re great.

I think what you’re refering to is mainly in the little cutscenes? There’s another audio volume slider called ‘events’, which might do it. Not tried because I enjoy the voices.

TWEWY was released on mobile (as Solo Remix), and they just eliminated the second screen gameplay. IIRC, your partner was basically just an invincible helper on your screen.

If it were up to me, and we determined split screen was important for the core brand identity, I’d split the screen vertically, and have each hand control the left / right screen separately. More than single-screen, I’d be interested in how they handled a multitide of input types (slash, tap, press, drag) without a touchscreen.

Thanks, Profanicus! I don’t mind the over the top character, but that laugh is like fingernails down a chalkboard for me! :) I think the game is supposed to go on sale on Black Friday (Best Buy, maybe?) so if there are audio sliders to play around with, I think I’ll take the plunge!

Yeah they give you an unusual amount of control over audio for the genre, with four sliders - BGM, SFX, Voices, Events.

Everything in Disgaea 5 has a minimum of 4 sliders and 12 stats.

Seems to be compilations of 1-3 and 4-6, followed by an all new title.

do i still have to exchange super long friend codes?

Disgaea 5 is a lot of fun. Great portable title.

For brand new contacts I think so.

You can find people to add directly without exchanging codes if you’ve played online with them, if they’re local to you, or if they’re friends on 3DS, Wii-U, or Mobile.

It’s looking pretty lackluster at the moment, but one of their high-profile guys, producer Yoshiaki Koizumi, insists that Nintendo will maintain a steady stream of traditional IPs and third-party support, along with some new IPs, in 2018. For example, Namco Bandai are announcing three Switch exclusives next year. Retro have been working on their next game since late 2013, so I expect we’ll get that next year, and maybe Metroid Prime 4, and a proper Switch-based Pokemon game.

That said, I can’t see them releasing anything on par with Odyssey or BOTW. Their 2017 comeback will be hard to top for them.

The only thing they’ve showed of Metroid Prime 4 is a logo. I’d be gobsmacked if it came out in 2018.

If the rumors are true, and Namco Bandai are developing Metroid Prime 4, then it will be announced in early 2018, so it’s possible the game could release some time next year. Obviously, I’m just speculating, but it doesn’t seem like an outrageous bet given Nintendo’s recent short announcement-to-release cycles (excluding BOTW!).

Well @DaveLong thinks they’ve been working on this stuff for 2+ years in secret, which is plausible given the age of the hardware and the other titles they released that were clearly years of work to build.

It is interesting that Nintendo seemed to decide (correctly) that Wii U was a dud early on (late 2014 ish?) and started planning for the future and investing all their resources in Switch. Smart move.

So maybe there will be more big name titles in 2018!

It’s certainly not out of the question that Metroid Prime 4 could be out next year.

Mario Odyssey was announced and released in the same year, while Zelda was announced years before release. So Nintendo has recent examples of both strategies.

The one I’m really excited about is Retro’s game. Alexander Brandon, the composer behind Deus Ex and Unreal, is working on the score for the studio’s Switch game.

That was a function of Nintendo delaying the official announcement of the Switch (and hence any Switch exclusive games) until very late indeed. Dreamcast is the only other console I can remember like it. That doesn’t apply any more.

Not saying 2018 is impossible, just that every single sign points in the other direction.

Yeah but Zelda was originally announced five years ago as a Wii-U exclusive. I’d say the strategy back then was a bit different to today.

One thing that I find depressing about the Switch is how many generic indie Steam games are available / announced on it.

I mean, yeah, some of them are excellent but a steam game I can already play anywhere I want for a couple bucks on sale, so how does having that same catalog on Switch help anyone? Also let’s take advantage of the hardware at least a little, the things that make it a unique Nintendo hybrid portable console? Rather than churning out the same games available anywhere.

And cross platform stuff like Doom, geez, first of all it was vastly overrated, and second if you’re forced into playing Doom on a Switch you should start to seriously question your life choices that brought you to this point.

Doom was not overrated. It’s not true! It’s bullshit! It’s not overrated!
*throws water bottle*
It is NOT!

Oh hi, Mark.

If you were an indie dev in 2015/2016, why on earth would you develop a Switch exclusive? It’s such a massive gamble.
