The Xbox Elite controller (v2 anyway) has pretty great battery life.
Given its obscene price, Iām surprised it doesnāt play games.
Thatās like 50% extra manufacturing cost. Nintendo doing us a bargain, overall!

Finally, the Pokemon MOBA the world was clamoring for:
These numbers are bananas, especially Mario Kartās. Thatās on top of the 8m units it sold on Wii U. The attach rate for both consoles is ridiculous (42% for Switch, 62% for Wii U):
37.08 million pcs.

- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
33.89 million pcs.

- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
24.77 million pcs.

- The Legend of Zelda:
Breath of the Wild
23.20 million pcs.

- PokƩmon Sword/PokƩmon Shield
21.85 million pcs.

21.40 million pcs.

15.72 million pcs.

- PokĆ©mon: Letās Go, Pikachu!/
PokĆ©mon: Letās Go, Eevee!
13.57 million pcs.

12.45 million pcs.

11.26 million pcs.

That is a LOT of hoola hoops
God I should rewatch that movie
The Hudsucker Proxy.
The running gag is āYou know, for kids.ā
Iām a huge fan of the Shisensho-Sichuan-Nikakudori variant of solitaire mahjong puzzle, and I get about any games about it.
Unlike the Shanghai variant and its infamous mountains of hidden information, it is actually a very deep, if simple, thinking solitaire, with (almost, depending on variants) the whole board laid in front of you. The goal is to takes tiles off the board if they are connected by a virtual line that can snap at 90% degree only twice. It sounds weirdly complicated describing it: it is actually very intuitive.
But having to skip around a huge board with a gamepad is a often big liability. 95% of the games are overall awful for a variety of reasons; sometimes there is the gem.
Shisen-sho NIKAKUdori is one such little diamond.
Donāt mind the horrible title and logo. This is why I hadnāt bought it until now, thinking it might have been just some random phone game port.
The game includes layouts ranked by difficulty, score and time to aim for, optional hints and items, and rules variations. The tiles are extremely readable, and there is a lovely combo system with a timer going down that encourages setting up many moves ahead, while using your time in between tiles to plan the next one.
I have only played it for 20 minutes so far, and I already rank it amongst the top 3 best Shisensho games I ever played.
Itās also insanely cheap (4$), and goes on sale for 2 bucks all the time.
There is a catch: itās only available in the US and JP stores for some reason.
There appears to also be a Playstation version.
Amazon has the Pro Controllers for $59 instead of $70. Hopefully this is a semi-permanent thing (or frequent sale thing) and not an opportunity Iām losing out on.
Once my Switch OLED gets closer to release I should pick your brains on the best memory card to order too.
Samsung, 256MB, pretty cheap and canāt go wrong.

Well it damn well better be!
Canāt go wrong with Samsung Evo Plus 256GB. Good brand, good capacity, good price.

I have the San Disk 256GB one myself, they even come in Nintendo themed ones. It was on sale so they were the same price. For $0 extra dollars I will pony up to have the one with Mario logo.

If there is zero chance of using the switch while docked, is the switch lite the clear way to go? Tapletop mode does look good for 2 player undocked gameplay, but I think even that format would be used very irrelegulalrly if ever (covid + not many gamer friends in rl).
I would still get the standard model if only because the controllers can be easily swapped when they break (and they almost certainly will).
