I grabbed Wargroove for $10 and Kingdoms of Amalur for 27 so far.
They did address the performance issues, yes. Frame rate is mostly solid, though there is still some occasional minor freezing. I’m hugely sensitive to these kinds of performance issues (c.f. Switch Hades thread…) and it’s not been a problem for me so far.
I did read that the new DLC may have some issues but likely they’ll fix those too, since it literally just came out.
I also have it on PC and prefer the Switch version, because you can play on the TV* and pause/resume at will, never mind taking it portable on a whim. :)
*I also play the PC version on the TV, but it’s just easier picking up the Pro controller and playing near instantly rather than booting the PC, logging in, running Steam, etc.
I got a physical copy of Tropical Freeze on sale for $29.99 a few months ago. Best Buy sale, I think.
Got Wargroove cart for $14.99 then, too.
Wife got me Dead Cells recently.
Those are the only three I would have been interested in.
Nintendo’s digital sales on their own games are pretty lackluster. I almost pulled the trigger several times and a little waiting usually got me a better deal on Amazon or Best Buy.

It’s not quite an apples to apples comparison though. I find that even when another retailer undercuts the sticker price by a ways, I usually come out ahead with digital because I buy eShop credit from Costco.com for 10% off face value, and at least in CA sales tax gets charged on physical games but not on digital.

yeah between the Costco gift card discount and the gold coins it works out to effectively 15% off. So a$60 game works out to $51
Quick question for those well versed in the current ecosystem; is now a good time to buy a Switch as a gift, or is it going to be put out to pasture in the not too distant future with the mysterious Switch 2 (or whatever they wind up calling it)?

The OLED model launched in late 2021. I’d be surprised if there is a true successor before late 2023.
I finally gave up on waiting and just got the Switch OLED when it launched a few months ago.
I figure with the ongoing chip shortage, even if Nintendo wanted to do an updated version they wouldn’t be able to do one soon.
Thanks, guys - appreciate it!

What is the deal with Diablo 3 on the Switch? I am late to the party and just got a Switch for my son (and myself, of course). Saw that Diablo 3 is a good local coop game but it does not appear to be available in a physical copy and is $60 on the eShop! That seems a bit much for a game from 2018, but perhaps that’s the price, take it or leave it. Has anyone found it cheaper lately?
I got it on sale a couple of weeks ago for $30 and am LOVING IT. it’s like it was tailor made for the Switch.
Don’t buy Diablo 3!
Buy Diablo Prime Evil Collection. It contains Diablo 3 and all expansions, and it contains Diablo 2 (resurrected) and its expansions. It’s currently on sale on the eshop for $39.
But if you want a physical edition, it looks like they didn’t do one for Prime Evil Collection.
They did for Diablo 3 but it must have been a limited run, seems to be pretty expensive for a used copy.
Dekudeku indicates it was on sale for $29 over Christmas. Looks like it goes on sale in the eshop every 3 months or so.
Dang I wish I’d known about this.
Ohhh Diablo II is on sale. Would it be worth picking up?

This is great info – thank you! I will look for Prime Evil!
It’s a really, really well-made remaster. It’s still Diablo 2 underneath though, therefore not as good as 3*.
*note: could be an unpopular opinion… ;)

I say hard pass on Diablo, because Acti-Blizz is trash.
I really feel like I should try Shovel Knight, probably a good fit for the switch, decent sale rn. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove - Deku Deals
I don’t like Shovel Knight, as a synthesis of a lot of the wrongs of the “new retro” types of games.
Expect cheapness, and no balance, but cute pixels and tunes.
