Diablo 3 is incredible on Switch. Played it on PC when it came out originally and found it slightly… boring. But on Switch the pick-up-and-play convenience makes its so addictive.

Actually picked up Diablo 2 remaster and bounced off it quick enough. Diablo 3 though, it’s basically highly polished crack cocaine in game form.

I have Dead Cells on PC and Xbox but I prefer it on Switch. Portability is perfect for that game and all the performance issues were ironed out over a year ago.

If you still have a DS and some patience in getting a used copy delivered from eBay, then Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes is just the ticket. I just started playing through it again for the third time, and it strikes all the chords you mention. Or, if you’re no longer confined to bed, you can buy the HD remake on Steam for $10 (that’s the version I’m currently playing). Or just buy a Steam Deck! Problem solved!

Killer Kirby’s releasing in March.

I mentioned Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker as one of my wish-listed games in the current sale, so it’s worth mentioning it’s free to play for a week for Nintendo Online subscribers:

Keep in mind the sale ends on 1/16, so if you want to buy it, don’t wait until the end of the trial. Also if you’re browsing the eShop I don’t think the version that’s bundled with DLC gives you the free trial download option, so make sure you’re just looking at the base game.

I was a lot more interested in the new Kirby game until I recently bought the old Kirby game, and it is such a terrible game.

I guess it’s finally time for me to sign up for Nintendo Online.

Which one, the Switch co-op game? I didn’t hear great things about that, but there’s like a gazillion great Kirby games, Super Star, Mass Attack, Canvas Curse, Planet Robobot on the 3DS.

Yes, the Switch coop game, Kirby Star Allies. Even my 4 year old grew bored of it in 5 minutes and wanted to go back to Mario. Thank the gods.

My understanding is that Star Allies got a bunch of free DLCs, and they have some significant challenge, so if it’s been a while, it might be worth taking another look. I haven’t tried it myself though.

Are you sure there’s a version that bundles the DLC? I only saw one version in the sales and deals section at least, and it has $4.19 DLC available for it.

Me and my son played this yesterday and today, a little over an hour each day, and we beat the final boss and finished the game.

But wait! That was just Episode 1. That now unlocked Episode 2.

I looked online, it looks like Episode 1 was about a fourth of the game. So I guess we have until tomorrow night to decide if I want to get it. Theoretically, we could finish this game in the free play period if I could play every night.

Looking at the website now, I just see the one entry which also shows the DLC as available, and also discounted.

Pretty sure looking at the eShop from my Switch, there are separate listings for the game without the DLC and with it bundled. But I don’t have my Switch handy to check now.

Anyone here have a Switch brick on them? My Switch Lite won’t boot up. Get’s to the “Nintendo” logo and turns off again. I’ve tried everything (soft/hard reset) and nothing is working.

My ancient GBC, GBA, DS, DS Lite, PSP all still work. Have had the Switch Lite two years, and it’s dead. Between this and the joy con drift I keep reading about, I guess they don’t make em like they used to? Or just bad luck.

My daughter’s Switch Lite appeared to be dead once. But the hard reset steps fixed it.

Unplug adapter from switch for 30+ seconds
Hold on/off button down for 20 seconds
Press on/off button

I tried that, didn’t work.

Nintendo sent me a prepaid shipping label to have it repaired at no charge, with an estimate completion time of 3 weeks. Pleasantly surprised at the “no charge” as this was over a year past warranty expiration.

So back to the 3DS for my handheld fix.

If it’s anything like the joy-con repair that 3 weeks will turn out to be a super conservative estimate.

My kids are not old enough to be left without constant observation but old enough so that they can find their own entertainment a lot of time so I finally got myself Switch. I bought Mario + Rabbids and Fire Emblem Three Houses immediately, both games I wanted to play for a long time. I’ve also bought the Borderlands collection and it works fine on Switch but turns out it’s not something you’d play in short sessions. Now I’m thinking about what else will work for me. I seem to be in the same boat as @ArmandoPenblade

Puzzle Quest seems what I need. Some sort of ARPG would probably work well. I always thought that mouse and keyboard is a very awkward control scheme for those games.

I also wonder if there are any big sales. Like can I expect a New Lunar Year sale with a lot of deals or is Nintendo more about flash deals?

For me, buying games at or near full price was the biggest adjustment going from being primarily a PC gamer to having a Switch. The estore does have the occasional seasonal sale, but it’s more often that certain publishers will have their own mini sales than for the entire storefront to have one big sale like Steam does. For instance, Ubisoft seems to be having a Valentine’s Day sale right now and Capcom just ended its Lunar New Year sale. Additionally, different territories can have sales going while other territories will not, which is also different from Steam/GOG/etc. There are always discounted games on the estore so it’s helpful to check it every week or so if there’s a specific title you want, but it’s frequently going to be stuff you’re not interested in. Another good reason to check the store is that they don’t do a great job of announcing when sales like this are happening, imo.

It could be different in Belarus, but it’s also common for the best deals (especially for first-party Nintendo titles) to be on cartridges at big box stores or online retailers rather than on the estore.

I see, thanks for the explanation!

Ubisoft and Capcom games tend to go on sale a lot, along with a few of the indie developers. It’s Nintendo’s own games that rarely go on sale and when they do, it’s not huge. And when it’s huge savings, it’s because the game is 3 or 4 years old.

Yeah, Nintendo published games go on mild sales occasionally, but for popular games especially, it ain’t much.

I have noticed that they do better on some less popular games or maybe a series that they want to push, like Toad’s Treasure Tracker and Fire Emblem have had good discounts.
