I’d recommend checking videos to verify performance: a lot of switch reviews mention performance issues for a variety of games that I have never experienced (stable 30 fps isn’t a performance issue to some of us), while ignoring potentially game-breaking issues like tiny fonts.

Well my performance concerns in the case of Monster Hunter Stories 2 came from playing the Switch demo! :)

Though I think it was mostly down to the awful camera, and hoping the PC one was better. It was, but not by that much…

So a bunch of Mario games are on sale and I’ve had my eye on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Is it worthwhile for the solo player such as myself, or is it more multiplayer focused?

Thank you!

On sale, sure. It’s a great kart racer, possibly the best ever. And it’s about to get a shit ton of new tracks. It’s definitely more fun multiplayer though.

MK8 Deluxe is fantastic. Highly recommended if you like MK at all.

I concur. I enjoyed playing it solo, but it is definitely best with friends.

I just redownloaded Lego Star Wars on my Xbox 360. Purchased in 2007. I can still purchase games on the 3DS eShop from 2011, and I can still redownload DSi games from 2008.

Actually, you’re right, it’s only a few that you can’t for specific reasons.

I tried googling famous stuff that happened on April 8th but came up empty.

Did something happen on April 9th?

Maybe something will happen on April 8th! orchestra hit

LOL.

But yeah, that was my question as well - why delay in April for world events happening now? Not to be insensitive but how does delaying this game help the situation? How would releasing it hurt?

I almost think the game still isn’t ready and needed another delay - and this was just their excuse. But that’s kind of silly, in and of itself.

Anyway, I’ll just keep enjoying Wargroove when this kind of game strikes my fancy.

I wonder if some thematic/ design elements strike a bit close to Russian/ Soviet style and so feel in bad taste.

I think Left Empty got it, if they release on April 8th, something disasterous will happen on April 9th.

It’s safe to say that even if Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was peacefully, miraculously, resolved today, it won’t have been completely forgotten in a month.

If as a company Nintendo decided it didn’t want a game about warfare released around the time of this global conflict (setting aside whether someone thinks that’s the right move), better to announce the delay sooner than later.

Nailed it. Blue Moon - the initial antagonist of the first game - is based on Russia/USSR. In the game they invade the neighboring Orange Star.

Pretty clear why Nintendo wouldn’t want to release that right now.

Yeah, I haven’t played any of the pre-DS games, so didn’t know if that was the case. But having played some of the later ones could see the possibility.

I definitely see Nintendo getting cold feet on that at the moment!

Advanced Wars is so cartoony I feel like no one would have batted an eye about the release if Nintendo hadn’t said anything.

If Nintendo doesn’t think it’s appropriate to be releasing a wargame then perhaps they shouldn’t be releasing wargames. Will it be ok to have wargames after the war is over?

You can make your own best guess about whether this is out of respect for those affected or troubled by a serious global conflict underway now, or just a calculated move to protect sales and reputation by heading off any critical press. In either case, the answer is probably “yes”, it will be available at some later date, and I don’t really have a problem with either motivation.
