I see that MHGU (Monster Hunter) is on sale for 70% off which is a new low. Is it worth it considering that it doesn’t have the QOL improvements that the new games have? It’s certainly tempting.

It’s my favorite Monster Hunter, and a steal at that price for the amount of content it has. I’m not an authority on the subject, but the hunter styles are so much fun and basically give each weapon six or seven (slightly) different movesets. Low-rank multiplayer wasn’t exactly a hopping place, though.

Re: QoL improvements, I didn’t miss them terribly coming from World. You’ll have to do some dedicated crafting material runs. Download an app called MHGUDB, and it’ll have a lot of the info that the newer games give you in-game.

Oh that’s another thing. I would probably play just on my own. Is it playable single player or do things get pretty difficult without help?

It’s actually more manageable on your own than the World/Rise formula. Even a large part of the MP content is doable on your own without it being ridiculous.

The amount of content in the game is staggering, the atmosphere and combats are the best. MHGU is the best Monster Hunter game ever!

Thanks for reminding me I got this last time it was on sale, I’ve not played it. Doing the training quests now.

So I’m a few tutorials into MHGU and wow, it’s really fun and complex so far. As my first MH I had no idea what to expect, but if it’s a hub-based mission game with loads of missions, I might be good for a long time with this one.

And it’s also one of the best co-op experience around. If it sticks with you, this game keeps on giving.

I’ll likely play it almost entirely solo, so it’s good to hear it’s very soloable. It’s good to hear that, if a co-op opportunity does present itself (my sister-in-law and her husband both have Switches) this sounds like a good candidate.

Or even get eventually your podcast buddies to buy switches and play online! - during a podcast, too. It takes place on another planet… probably!
Tutorials and solo, first, right :0

One already has a Switch, the others I’m not sure I could convince them to get one. ;) That said I could see this being fun co-op.

I’ve gone through all of the basic training missions but I’m skipping the prowler tutorial missions as it’s really just too much. I remember getting bogged down playing the original version on the 3DS. It’s too bad they couldn’t have introduced all the different concepts in one tutorial without having to keep going back to the hub all the time. Anyways, I’m looking forward to actually being able to get to hunt and kill stuff now, now that i know the basics.

Hey Nice!

Now I have to think about Folders.

I’m thinking “Mario”, “Zelda”, “Indie” and “Krap” (For Kirby Allies).

I wonder if you can put games from within Nintendo Online into separate folders too?

Prowlers are awesome though ;D

Breath of the Wild sequel delayed until Spring 2023.

I am Jack’s complete lack of surprise.

Well at least now we know when to expect the next Nintendo console :)

Spring 2025, after it’s been delayed 3 more times? ^.^

I love that the game doesn’t even have an official name yet. It’s still the sequel to that other game.

So you remember Twilight Princess too!

So, uh, does anyone else get Switch vision after playing it handheld for an hour or so?

I took a break before tackling some stuff for work last night to play an hour of Slay the Spire last night, and after I finished I could barely read my computer screen…
