This is a pretty cool tweet thread about design feel in Celeste

This looks pretty fun. Anybody played?

Interesting, there aren’t many entries in the Spy Party genre.

It’s only $6 so I’m going to make my kids play it with me.

I think I’ll pick it up too.

I did the same - a lot of fun! Only played for an hour or so with 2 of my kids, but the games we played seemed very well-balanced so far.

Wow, Animal Crossing is quite beloved so far.

huh - but its not out until friday?

edit: oh - its reviewers.

Am excited!

Am beyond excited!
And such a perfect timing.

Indie showcase announced for tomorrow. Recently, VentureBeat reported that in the week following the March indie presentation there will be a full Direct, so hopefully that still happens, even though I could see a lot of the major release dates being delayed now due to COVID19.

They better not postpone Animal Crossing :E
That being said, everybody seems to go to work as usual, save for a few people calling sick (which is exceptionnal behavior) in Japan.

So… I’ve never played (or even really seen) an Animal Crossing game, but I did sink a fair number of hours into Stardew Valley. Are they similar/comparable? If not, can someone give me an Idiot’s Guide to what this actually is?

IT’s not really comparable: you are talking to fucked up nevrosed animals and all you do is wander around and experience the charming little world. It’s more of a toy than a game, but it’s pretty freaking adorable. And the incentive is to come visit every day because stuff happens, and otherwise your town becomes a nomansland!

Maybe they’ll announce a ship date for Heaven’s Vault.

I think it is comparable, in that it’s a similar genre with a laid back vibe and if you like one you’d probably like the other.

You spend a lot of time doing what in other games would be menial in-between tasks. Like fishing, digging up fossils, beachcombing, gardening, interior decorating, and playing dress-up. Also developing relationships with neighbours.

All of this is pleasantly relaxing and engaging with long slow progression chains and collections to complete. It’s pretty special and full of charm.

Definitely cool stuff shown. Worth a look even if you don’t have a Switch since many of these are multi-platform.

I am thinking of picking up a Switch this weekend for the family. We have usual PS4, Xbox 1 and gaming pc’s.

Is there any advice on the console and what I need to buy with it.

The most obvious is a second set of controllers for 4 player games. A large memory card since you’re probably gonna be downloading games. I’m sure others can add more ideas but those are the first things that come to mind.
