Not very far in, but the Nook Miles at least give you a bunch of little goals to go after.

Probably more goal oriented than most of the others, but you’re not going to get the Harvest Moon level of experience with Animal Crossing IMO. It’s more about hanging out and socializing and now also about arranging your blank slate of an island how you like it.

I’m about an hour into Animal Crossing now, and I’m pretty sure this game is about joining a cult.

To frag like it’s 1997, the remastered Doom 64 is available for $5. It’s kind of an interesting artifact. Sort of a cross between Doom 1 & 2 with unique levels.

Most obvious age thing is that you cannot look up or down, and there is no multiplayer support. But the remaster looks buffed up a bit, supports gyro aim, and of course, still has that super ā€œUnmakerā€ weapon that never made it into another Doom.

Edit: should mention that’s it’s free if you get Doom Eternal on the switch.

There seems to be a lack of Switch game threads. I mean we had a Pokemon generation arrive, even. :) Maybe they aren’t that popular here, I guess. Probably no one wants to chit-chat about Pokemon Let’s Go or Rune Factory 4 or such things. :)

You’re about 16 hours late on that one, buddy.

lol! I thought I was, but everyone should see it. :)

So I haven’t personally touched the switch in a while, turns out my son has somehow been dealing with terrible drift on the left controller (he finds it kind of funny, apparently.) Calibration didn’t help, so I created the joy-con repair ticket. How long does it usually take for Nintendo to ship a new controller back?

Should take a few months to recover, as their insides are clearly made out of toilet paper rolls.

Time to dismantle mine and extract the gold.

Set mine up, looks pretty nifty. Problem is by the time I got it running my kids were home, little one is playing Rocket League and the older one Fifa.

So my go at Golf Story will have to wait.

Splashed some cash on games.

Zelda Breath of the Wild
Animal Crossing (Came with console)
Rocket League (Youngest Choice)
Fifa 20 (Eldest Choice even though he has it on Xbox and PS4)
Mario Tennis Aces
Golf Story
Deep Diving Adventures

For the Future - Fitness Boxing, Mario Odyssey, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Pokemon Sword. - Might need to win the lottery to afford them as they aint cheap.

Do you need to have your Switch already in hand in order to buy sale games on the eshop?

So how important is multiplayer to Animal Crossing? I don’t even know anyone else personally who has a Switch, and never touch multiplayer games anyway. Will I be missing out?

Mostly for showing off, though you can also trade. If you miss a super cute holiday outfit, or a friend makes a cool custom design, you can use multiplayer to trade for stuff afaik

AC on the DS was fun even if you never went to another island. You wouldn’t be able to have every type of fruit tree though. Not sure if stuff like that still persists.

Yes, they won’t add games to your account w/o a switch on it. Sometimes things that go onsale on the eshop might have a digital version you can buy on Amazon that will go on sale too. But they often don’t.

Speaking of islands, the world seems pretty small. I imagine there’s a lot more to see beneath the surface, but I can’t help but raise my eyebrows a bit as a first impression.

It’s small, because you are supposed to go all over it almost daily, so you don’t want things to be too far remote. You’ll thank it later for that.

If folks are interested in breaking out the ACNH discussion to its own thread, I’ve created one over yonder:
