Horizon Chase Turbo is on sale for 75% off ($5 or so) in the US eShop is still a fine game but the sale ended this morning.
It’s a retro old school arcade racer like Outrun or Pole Position. I’ve been wanting one, and this game almost perfect fills that needs for me (“almost,” as in I hate Unity graphics, and this game looks 100% Unity-made, so I have to constantly overlook that, but I am a fickle pickle), so if you want one too this should easily fit the bill.
If you own or buy the game feel free to add me to your Nintendo friend’s list so I have more race times to compete against on the leader board as I progress (I’m not that far yet. I just got the game yesterday): SW-3387-2309-4699
It also might be worth noting that last I looked, the Steam version was rated Overwhelmingly Positive by its users if anybody actually cares about stuff like customer satisfaction.
got it on PS4, great arcade racer. It has a nice progression, and you want to have all gold medals on all courses. And that’s the reason to come back. Also the music is great … love it!
Not seeing it on sale in eshop. Booooo
Well that’s dumb as crap. I thought it was supposed to be on sale all the way through June 11th, the end of some sort of 2-year celebration event the developers talked about in my Nintendo feed on the Switch… where I clicked and bought it. But thanks to the way the eShop is set up, I can’t even go back and see the current price or sale end date because I’ve already purchased the game and it replaces the price with a “purchased” notification.
The website shows the game back at $20 now too, so I guess the sale was much more time limited than I expected. Sorry to get hopes up.
Ahhh, the dev’s Twitter feed confirms the sale has ended. Damn.
strange, here in EU it is 70% off until June 14
I think I remember seeing on sale and almost made the purchase. But I certainly would have with your recommendation @kerzain . Thanks for the tip anyway, I’ll keep an eye out. $5 is in my ‘it’s just a cup of coffee so what the hell’ range.
Damn it, we’re using the same avatar, this is going to make everything confusing.
Finally a challenger to compete against!

Don’t racing games suck on the Switch due to digital buttons? I read that somewhere or other (this thread)?
No, racing games suck on the xbox and sony boxes because those silly flimsy digital triggers.
You read it here.
They especially suck on Xbox because they’re almost all wannabe simulations.
This is an arcade racer. It’s meant to be played by people that appreciate games more than branding and licensing.
The same Switch Avatar? Damnit. I think you know the rule about doppelgangers. Watch your back.
I wish I could ram your ghost car into a tree. I need upgrades, stat!
BTW, I thought you were French, so it’s a good thing you mentioned we have the same Avatar or I would have no idea who was trying to befriend me.
I hadn’t fired the game in a while after overdosing on it, but it’s still as addicting as ever
Yea, it seems like it will be. I’ve only completed California so far, but I’ve managed to get the Super Trophy for most locations there so far, and after grabbing an upgrade I had fun going back and racing your ghosts in those maps.
I like that there’s different (optional) reasons to replay these tracks; from collectibles, to score grinding, to leader board times.

I also grabbed Horizon Chase Turbo during the sale. Only played a little bit so far, but am happy to contribute some ghosts for you to laugh at as they run into signs: SW-4925-1847-5873.

One thing of note: The upgrades you can earn do make a significant difference in your vehicles capabilities. As an example, the upgrade I chose first was for acceleration and handling (acceleration because I crash a lot, and handling to keep me from crashing a lot). The one upgrade shaved a solid five seconds off the few tracks I had paid attention to at that point. It helped me close the gap between Left_Empty’s ghost and myself.
I just unlocked my second upgrade, Acceleration (because I still crash a lot), and top speed (to actually pass LE’s ghost on open stretches), and it ahas also made a difference.
All I’m saying is think carefully about the upgrades you choose early, because even though I’m sure at some point we can unlock everything, some stuff seems much more impactful given a person’s driving style.
I only mention this because in some racing games it often feels like I can upgrade or tweak settings till my heart is content and never tell the difference out on the road.
So I bought Clubhouse Games, just released, because I remember how much I enjoyed the version that was on the 3DS, or whatever platform it was on. Some of the games are pretty slick, a couple are kind of meh. I think Bowling and Darts are both well done, and Slot Cars is pretty fun, too. The motion controls seem to work nicely for the Bowling and Darts games. You have the usual card games, Chess, Checkers, Chinese Checkers, etc.
There’s a pretty simple Golf game, seems pretty meh to me. Still a lot I haven’t had time to even look at. I think it would be a good buy if you enjoy these kinds of games.

Has anyone heard any further information about Sports Story? Last I saw it was slated for release around now-ish?
I was just listening to them talk about it on Waypoint Radio. Apparently it has real Mahjong?
It does, I haven’t tried it yet. Also Dominoes and a lot of others. No Go, which is a little surprising. The ‘Toy Soccer’ is kind of fun, really. Sort of like miniature Foosball. There is a demo, not sure how many games are on that. Pretty slick presentation all around. Especially with regard to explaining the games, if you don’t know the rules.
