Yes this is the wonderful Steam functionality that takes over everything and wrecks the standard controller inputs. I had the same issue in the Prey Moon Crash DLC and Kingdom Come Deliverance…

Go into Big Picture mode, in your library find No Man’s Sky, choose ‘Manage Game’, then in the controller options there set ‘Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers’ -> ‘FORCED OFF’.

Thanks!

Did you try loading one carbon stack as the input before loading any fuel? If that doesn’t work it’s likely a bug.

This was a game I had already been playing for ~10 hours.

If people are dying quickly, having issues with grindiness…just play creative for a bit. Explore, cruise around the universe…it’s very chill and you can explore to your heart’s content without issues.

I have one game in creative to play with my kid as that’s all he plays. I wont play it much as I like the challenge of the other modes but sometimes I just want to head to another system and see the new planets and creative is a great way to do that without stress.

I think this will be my solution with my kids when we play co-op. I got worn out after a few hours last night playing normal. I’d like to just explore - and I’m sure they won’t have the patience for the grind.

Those who bought the game on GoG can request a refund! That’s an incredible gesture on their part.

Why? It’s the only version of the game in which no one can enter your game and kill you. That’s a plus in my book. ;)

You can turn off MP in the Steam version.

Refunds offered for the next 3 days, and issued in GoG bucks. But still, pretty great of them.

Yep, first priority is to repair the scanner in the multitool, which will highlight nearby sodium and oxygen deposits. All it takes to fix is a bit of the Ferrite dust which is usually found by mining small rock-like objects.

Once you can see the sodium and O2 you should be able to keep your toxic protection and life support topped up easily. :)

I died a couple of times, mainly because I couldn’t figure out the interface, and going into a menu did not seem to stop time. And it still confuses me that the Escape key won’t take me out of a menu - instead I have to use the RMB. But slowly getting used to the game’s quirks.

I keep seeing this HUD icon appear near the bottom right of the screen. What does it mean?

That is amazing. It’s wallet funds but I think I’ll take them up on it and get it on Steam. I can always find something to buy on GOG later.

I think it means you’re being watched. Though maybe it’s alert level? It used to mean this:

It means that there is a sentinel nearby and that you are within its detection range. So try to not do anything disruptive while it’s there and you should be fine.

Sentinel drone in range. You’ll also see a white semicircle with an arrow in the middle that points in the general direction of the sentinel.

Sentinels are more aggressive now. You used to be able to mine/destroy a couple of nodes before they would notice you and start scanning. Now they zip over and scan as soon as you start mining. They’re also tougher…little SOBs got some armor in the update.

One other helpful starting tip: look for a cave system near where you start. Spelunk around in there (without getting lost) and you may find a plethora of subterranean artifacts that you can sell for lots of $$$. The first cave I stumbled upon had 460,000 credits worth of them.

I want my clouds to look like this:

That seems to look better than what I’m currently seeing in game. I guess maybe I should fly around some and see if it looks better up in the sky.
