Sometimes it will have that message but the upload appears to go through anyway, in my experience.
Steam denied my refund request because I’d (barely) passed the two hour mark, despite my pointing out most of that time was watching the screen loading shaders.
So for better or worse, I’m in – not throwing away $30 without trying more. Yesterday I put in a few more hours and really struggled with the UI, both with k/m and controller. After several restarts I’ve found a starting planet that is slightly hospitable (or least less inhospitable than most), so I’m going to stick with this save.
It does not make a good first impression, but I’m still hopeful this will prove satisfying over time.
Hey listen, depending on what time zone you’re in (I’m PDT) if you want me to join your game for a bit I can show you the ropes (as well as I can remember them, I’m a relative noob, but I’ve managed to warp away from the starting system). I’m Papagenox on Steam if you want to shoot me a friend request, and I’m about to start playing. If you want me to show up in your area I think I have to join your game. Gonna get my headset ready in case.
Thanks, but I won’t get back to the game until tonight, probably around 8:30 eastern, so 5:30 your time. But I will shoot you a Steam friend request. Appreciate the offer.
OK, no worries. Man, are @BrianRubin and @tomchick the only people on the Left Coast other than me or what? ;-)
Sorry, it was just a comment about the relative lack of Qt3 people in the Pacific Time Zone.
I think that’s the one that says your inventory is full. It goes up gradually to show remaining space then becomes red.

Protip:
If you are in another person’s game, don’t try to warp to your bases.
It seems that, if you built based in a different Galaxy, because you completed one of the storylines and started a new galactic seed, then when you warp to your bases while in a different Galaxy (due to being in another player’s game), then you are dropped in places where there is no actual base.
For instance, one of my bases in… A totally barren planet in the euclid Galaxy. Another if my bases is… Just floating in space, with no planet at all. This one was really great, since i just died almost immediately, then had to keep flying back and forth over my grave to pick up my stuff.
I’ve gone to a couple of ancient ruins and get asked:
- Do i want to learn a new word?
- Do I want to learn about the past?
I’ve chosen the second one and it says I’ve been given new knowledge but heck if i can tell what happened. Anyone know?
I just got my first freighter and am excited. It adds a whole another dimension to the game.

My freighter is parked in another system. I sent it on some mission. It doesn’t seem to follow you around. Maybe I am supposed to land on it, and somehow tell it to move from system to system instead of using my small ship?
I was a bit annoyed in first hour or so… I have bugs and couldn’t get the Steam controller and Steam Link to work; crashes the game on startup. Anyone else? It seems best with keyboard and mouse anyway. Then the UI bugged me; missing gaming conventions such as i for inventory and m for map. But as it started to click I started feeling better about it, and the crafting UI might actually be better than most RPG or at least as good, need more time to judge. As I fniished patching up my ship it started to feel pretty interesting. I’m definitely going to keep going.

Knowledge of the past will lead you to an ancient site that should show up on the radar. Going there, you have the opportunity to find various loot. At least, that’s the last thing that happened to me.

There is apparently a nav thing for the map for the freighter near the navigator. It seems that it can only hold one jump charge at once.
I still have not found a nice world for a base yet. They must be really rare. I have been to a dozen systems and they planets are all fucked up.
Ah, ok, that’s how that popped up! :)
Let me ask something else. What is this “navigation data”? I have a ton of these and I don’t know what to do with them?

If you build a signal booster, when you use them they will find a random close thing for free, but you can spend a navigation data to search for a specific type of thing.
You can also spend those drop pod coordinates to find a drop off containing an exosuit upgrade.
When you’re in space, the quick menu has an option to warp the freighter to your location.
(and I think you send your frigates on missions, not your capital ship)
Were those bases you had uploaded?
i’m still confused. I see some sort of machine outside at various locations that tell me to insert navigation data. I can’t tell that it does anything once i do that, though it says something about recalling my starship, which I can already do without that.
Ok, I did some further research and see what you are talking about. Thanks!
