Question: I know it’s farfetched, but do the “biological horrors” that appear when you open a “whispering egg” count as animals as far as the total species to be discovered? Because if so that would explain how I’ve found all but one on this one planet and no matter where or when I go I CANNOT find the last one. And yes, I’ve looked in caves and looked up. Also this planet in question is completely devoid of liquid water.

You and me both. I have a lot of planets where I am missing the last species. I have given up on it. I have spent hours looking. During the day, at night, during storms, in caves, in the sky, near shorelines, etc…
No, the horrors do not count. At least I do not think. I can’t scan them.

They are color coded.
Emeril is in green systems, iridium is in blue, and cadmium is in red.
I’m going to postulate this as a tentative theory since I’m sure I’ve come across more rare fauna this way… I think you stand a good chance of finding that final recalcitrant if you trek on foot across the planet for a couple of days.
In-game days, I hope? ;-) BTW, how sped up is time in the game vs IRL time? Is there any official ratio?
Me too… ;)
From what I read, it’s 100 times real time speed.
So I took off looking for my final creature. Listening out for a new cry. Scanning occasionally, especially when crossing the boundary into a new region.
Eventually, after couple days adventuring… I spied red dots! There was no creature sound but the dots were there. Dropped what I was doing and sped over to get a closer look.
Hrm. Scanned as a mineral, the dot didn’t turn green, and still one creature left.
Dammit!
The search continues… though it does enter one’s mind, that perhaps it’s a bug and that last animal will forever remain elusive… :)
Most likely it is a bug. By the way, are those things in the picture essentially another kind of Sentinel?
Yeah they’re the next level of response after you shoot a couple of the flying ones. First time I’ve seen them just patrolling around a building though.
That’s ok, I saw you were in game but I wasn’t ready to actually join the game. I’m not even sure I understand what happens to my save game if I joined another’s game in MP. So I tried watching instead.
I still haven’t gotten off the ground, but at least I’ve found a planet on which I can survive, and I’m starting to get used to the convoluted UI, which also helps me survive. I don’t mind there’s no hand holding. I’m over that. I’m looking forward to just making progress.

Wow, two disappointments:
- Can repairing freighters be any more annoying. Having to scramble all over the ship to only find I am missing one ingredient to fix the last component. Why don’t I get a list at the mission briefing screen? Even better, why can’t I just fix the ship there, paying what cost in materials is needed.
- I thought Atlas Pass v3 were the bees knees. Except now that I have it, every room is nothing more than in indoor garden, with plants that produce ingredients that don’t look all the valuable or rare. Does it get any better?
Got him!
Unfortunately it provided no real insight other than ‘some critters are just really rare and take an age to find’… :P
It was day, a vegetated area, and the critter was alone. Everything else on the planet was in groups of varying sizes. Only ever saw one of these.

Do the environmental protection upgrades have a passive effect? As in, is there a reason to buy multiple hot/cold/radiation protection upgrades?
So the third planet in my starting system (after the first scorcher and the toxic acid rain filled one where I just spent 12+ hours exploring after building my base and having to constantly replenish my life support) is kind of a paradise.
Passive sentinels, lush flora and fauna, temperatures always between 20-30C. My life support doesn’t even kick in at any point.
Why didn’t I explore the next planet sooner?
Mind you, it’s a bit like playing peaceful in Minecraft. Not much action or challenge.

I have a pretty nice world to build my base on. Passive sentinels. and a good amount of resources.
Does anyone know how you can withdraw from your base’s storage items without going to each storage cube? You can put things into storage just about anywhere, but I need to search each cube to get things out it seems.

The controls for Exocraft are stupid. Has the designer just never played a video game before?
Miramon
3347
Yes. Utterly idiotic.
“But what if the controller only has one stick?”
“Oh. I guess I’ll use it for the camera then.”
“But then how will you drive?”
“Oh. I guess I’ll make it so the buggy eventually turns to face the camera.”
“Eventually?”
“Well, yeah, wouldn’t be realistic otherwise.”

What does it mean when some random person joins your game, that they’ve entered a solar system you’re in, or landed on your planet, or are near you, or in the same local group of stars? No idea.

They spawn with their ship in your current system near the station. Just like if they had warped in.
if necessary you can kick them from the network options menu.
NEXT seems to have changed the way crashed ships work. I have yet to see one and I’ve been looking hard. I also have yet to see one pop up on my radar when flying around.
All my scans for distress signals have ended up with crash sites that have no ships at them. I did some investigating and apparently crash sites will no longer always have a ship there. Maybe I’m just being unlucky?
