His problem is different. I tried the above solution and it did not work - I had the same problem, quest marker floating in space

I run from them if I’m feeling lazy or kill them if I’m not. I’ve killed 103 so far.

Well you can pay attention to the lawlessness level of the system and not hang around ones which are too high. And duck into planets and stations when you can, or even pay off the pirates, annoying as that may be, because it’s probably a negligible amount of money. But sometimes you do just have to fight, and the fight is pointless, too, so it certainly can be annoying.

Ugh, I took a mission to raid some depots and somehow during it I noticed suddenly that in ship “cockpit view” the aiming cursor is offset to the left. It only seems to apply to that ship, and only in cockpit view, not in third person. I quit out of the game, exited Steam, even unplugged and plugged in my Xbox One controller, then restarted the game, switched ships and everything. It seems permanent. The ship itself doesn’t report any damaged parts.

Anyone else seen this? Am I just boned till I permanently abandon this ship? It’s gotta be bug, right?

EDIT: From what I’ve been reading it is in fact a bug that only seems to affect shuttles. So I guess I’m in the market for a different class of ship. Went ahead and reported it to Hello Games but it’s obviously low priority because it’s been this way for at least a year.

Move to a system with a lower conflict rating?

Ill have to check my main base system. I do not know its conflict rating. It was not something I considered. I thought the conflict rating was how likely there was some war action going on.

I do have another question. I am nearing the end of the Artemis quest line. My next step is to speak to null. From what I understand, is that at some point that I get to choose a new galaxy to go to.

In short, how does it work? What do you keep and what do you lose? I assume I keep everything but my main base, but I want to make sure. Also I know the other galaxies are supposed to be different, but how much are they really? I would probably pick the tranquil galaxy over the one I am in (I have no idea how to tell which galaxy I am in). How dramatic of a change is it?

I don’t think there is a way to tell how the new galaxy will be. A new galaxy is a just new random seed for the procedural generation as far as I know.

Finally unlocked beacons! Yay. Is this a good point to stop mainlining the story missions and start tooling around doing stuff like fixing up ships and expanding my exosuit, or is there another big unlock still to come?

I’d seen a sweet exotic ship at a trade port less than an hour after starting my new NEXT game. Naturally I couldn’t afford it. I knew it would frequent that port so I used the scanner to get the coordinates of the port and wrote them down for future reference.

Last night I thought I had finally earned enough millions to go back and camp the port looking for it. My base of operations was now half a world away so finding the trading port again was a PITA since you have to keep landing to check where you are. Finally I found it.

Getting an exotic ship this way requires a lot of patience. It reminds me of my WOW hunter days camping a rare pet’s spawn areas. Finally it shows up BUT this version costs a few million more because it has more slots than the first one I saw. I still can’t afford it.

A few eggs from an abandoned post takes care of the extra needed cash and I’m back to camping. After an hour and a half, it finally show up and I trade my crappy starter ship for this:

I love this ship! It’s similar to the exotic I had in my 1.3 game but I like the looks even better. It has almost 60% bonuses to every stat. I added some S class components to the pulse engine, shield, phasers, etc. for even bigger bonuses and it totally rocks. It’s extremely maneuverable and fast and I never want to go back to what I had before. Pirates, watch out.

So I realised I could play creative mode and still get the storyline and not worry about a grind at all.

I miss out on any sense of danger, but its more like the utopian High Sci-Fi I dreamt about as a kid and there’s still enough game to keep my occupied for days.

Does anyone know what initially triggers the quests you get from your home base computer?

I’m not seeing anything when I talk to it and there’s nothing in my log. Is this triggered by getting to a certain point in the main Awakenings quest? I’ve been to the Anomaly and done some of Polo’s quests and gotten the Atlas v.1 pass. I sure hope I’m not bugged.

Somewhere over the weekend I read it was triggered by some point in the “Alone out there”/Artemis quest, which seems possible since I was mostly working on that and at some point noticed I also had the base building quest.

I just read that in order to trigger the base quests you first have to place the circular foundation and build the circular room over that. That apparently triggers it. I just dropped down a square wooden floor with a few wooden walls and that seem to be the issue.

Not sure about that, I haven’t done anything circular. I don’t think I even have the option to build anything circular yet.

It’s the end of the galaxy core line, which the Artemis line directs you to. I think all your base stuff is converted to resources which you can reclaim when you establish a new base in the new galaxy and build the appropriate container. It feels very futile to me, however. The new galaxy is an existing one based on the choice you make for type during the quest, so there may be other players there too.

Yeah, I never placed a high-tech foundation piece at all. The circular rooms seem to come with floors that push the terrain out of the way.

Stupid question; does the location of your base on a planet actually matter, and if so what should I keep in mind when choosing?

Well, having resources close is nice, especially a cave for cobalt. Mooching off the store and landing pad of a nearby settlement is even better.

Minor settlements also sell building parts, which trading posts do not, but trading posts can sell more kinds of items because of ships (especially plants) and you can also shop for the ships themselves.

I have one hour to purchase this for $24.

What is the final verdict? Yes or No?

Personally I find it a lot of fun. There are things with “normal” difficulty that grate on me. The constant need to fill meters up to keep progressing.

Playing “creative” doesn’t provide enough challenge though.

I long for an “easy” mode between those two.

Additionally I think it needs some more polish. I’ve run into outright bugs over and over. I’ve lost progress multiple times. I keep coming back because the game is really fun when you get to explore and immerse yourself in the world.

There is some story now and there are multiple quest lines to follow now.

For $24 I think it is worth it. Consider it a diamond in the rough at this stage. If Hello Games continues to improve the game it could be a real gem.
