Holy fuck that looks great.

I don’t think I’d ever have the dedication to make any base of mine look that good and organized. That must represent a couple hundred hours of play at least.

Heh, more like a dozen hours over a couple of weekends, but yeah, in the end the only purpose it served was scratching a base building itch. I’m a sucker for base building in games.
Resources required (not counting things like ladders and connecting corridors):
- 7,040 Ferrite Dust for the walls
- 1,400 Magnetized Ferrite for the floor panels (converted from 2,800 Pure Ferrite)
- 1,760 Ferrite Dust for the floor panels
- 368 Glass for the walls and domes
The slowest part of projects like this one is fixing design issues, and I was lucky in that the design fit well with the terrain. So it really all came down to having a good supply of Ferrite Dust and Glass. Ferrite Dust is cheap at stations and Frostwort grows very quickly.
Huh. Well, I guess I’ve faffed about too much (as our friends across the pond would say) over my near 100 hours of play, because I don’t even have an exocraft yet, let alone an exotic ship and a base that looks like a planned thing instead of a few disconnected rooms.

Talking about hours of play - I’m not sure how much I really have: Steam says 275+ hours but in-game my game(s) only show just over 150 hours total - and my main base is just a bunch of disconnected rooms and a wood hut - didn’t figure out how to properly connect rooms until after the base was developed.
I think I’m also planning on taking a break soon - mostly just saving up for a large freighter - currently up to 170+ million units so far.

I think you misunderstood my question. Its more of like, what happens when you get to the center? Do you just get there or does something happen?
I hope that little knowledge stone out front imparts the Vy’Keen word for “awesome”, because that is exactly what your base is. =)
Seriously man, that is amazing, so symmetrical and organized. I am in awe. I do not have the patience to do anything even remotely approaching that level of impressive. Nice.
In my personal quest to thwart the poor game design of the Portals, I have been successful. Basically, I cheated.
I looked up a Portal address near the center of Euclid, located a portal in the system I was in, dialed up the address and went though. On the other side, I simply saved by entering and exiting my ship. I then used a save editor to edit the “OnOtherSideOfPortal” bit in my save from True to False. Reloaded the game and BAM, I could now build bases, access the galactic map, use teleport rings, call my freighter, etc. form the far side of the Portal.
End result : I’m now 3000LY from the center of Euclid. I am in a system named Taco (discovered & named by someone else). All the planets here were discovered and named by other people, though there was an undiscovered moon, so I landed and named it Guac. In retrospect, Churro would have probably been a better name for a moon.
New Problem : Taco appears to be the last system before the Center. I’m still 3000LY out, and my hyperdrive only jumps 1020LY at a time. I have three S-Class hyperdrive mods already. Not sure how I am going to boost from 1000 to 3000…
If I remember this right, all you need is to have a full warp fuel tank to do the last jump.
You remembered correctly. When I checked my Hyperdrive last night it was at 95%. I fed it a warp cell to get to 100%, and set my waypoint for Center. I was then able to slide along the yellow line in the galactic map, the perspective changed to focus on the huge glowing mass that forms the center, and when I clicked and held…
…I was treated to an animation of the galaxy hurtling past me at great speeds while slowly flattening out while cool music played, until finally there was nothing but a flat line, a flash of light, and then slowly, more stars appeared again. I had entered the Hilbert Dimension, the second galaxy of NMS. I “awoke” to find this…
Those are pieces of my ship scattered all over the frozen landscape of an undiscovered planet in the Hilbert Dimension. After spending about 30 minutes between the planet surface and the system space station rebuilding all the broken parts of my ship, my exosuit and my multi-tool (multiple purchases of resources were made, but thankfully little mining or refining needed to be done) I was back in business…ready to set forth and explore a whole new (to me) galaxy.
So basically I’ve reached the point where I feel like I’ve done the majority of the things there are to do in NMS for now. I feel like this is a good point to save and say “I win”, at least until a new large content update comes along. I may revisit just to poke around the new galaxy to see of there is a planet worth building a base on nearby, as I never did mess around with Exocraft, and I still have a couple of Polo milestone quests left to do, but none of that is compelling enough to make me keep playing every night.
I’ve very much enjoyed my time with NMS. It was worth every penny, and I got A LOT of hours of playtime out of it. Best of all, I will return, as I know Hello Games is going to add additional content and make changes down the road that will draw me back. I would highly recommend NMS to anyone who is looking for a chill exploratory game with light Minecrafty and economic (trading) elements that rewards curiosity and discovery. It’s been a blast.
Hey, good job!
Yeah, it’s one of those games where you do the things you want until you decide you’ve reached the goal of your adventure.
Nice, SlaintMhath. I like your summary and perspective, there. I think it’s pretty parallel/similar to my own. I arrived in a new dimension (or galaxy, I guess) via a different method by following the Anomaly quest to its conclusion. Unlike you, I went ahead and set up a new base as I indicated above, but once that was completed I felt like I’d pretty much finished the game.
I had a lot of fun as well. I really hope to see Hello Games add the kind of content to make the game worth revisiting, but I think it will be a while before we see anything more interesting than new forms of attrition (apparently food is to be added at some point), new multiplayer interactions and new ground/water vehicles.
Speaking of, someone recently posted a preview of the upcoming new Dragonfly exocraft:
Free update coming. Halloween creepy stuff.
Just in time for the Holidays (sorry if it’s been posted, but I loved Oingo Boingo and Elfman):

Does anyone here play the game regularly on Xbox? My friend bought it a couple months ago and had tons of major stability issues right from the outset, crashes everywhere.
It’s been pretty good for me on Xbox One X. No crashes I can recall. Occasional in-game glitches.

I wonder if his game just happened to generate a glitchy starting planet.
Look at that! They put Subnautica into No Man’s Sky. Good for them, too, because now I’m more interested in it.
