I just bought this on PSN for $25. I blame you all!

You’re welcome! ;)

Actually, it was all me just being really stupid. In the log where you select missions, the Awakening story is way up in the top. I didn’t realize I could choose it, I just thought it was the headline for the missions underneath… lol WELL. On with it. Have a lil scientist now!
Didn’t expect fighting in space, that did NOT go well.

So, is there any chance to find a planet that looks really nice and where animals DON’T attack you every second step? =))

(Just to be clear - I’m REALLY enjoying it. However painstaikingly slow it is to fuel your jet and build stuff and having your inventory full every 5 minutes)

Yep, you can find some lovely peaceful paradise worlds where you don’t need to neutralise wildlife.

Happy you like, it’s a great game!

To fuel faster, get better stuff for your multitool. There are modules that boost mining speed, stack them together for additional bonus.

For suit inventory, each space station has a shop where you can get buy an extra inventory slot.

Once you can make antimatter, locate Drop Pods as they will give you an inventory slot (in exchange for some materials of course).

You may have had a tutorial about them already, you build a signal booster and use ‘drop pod coordinate data’ to find them. You can also see them occasionally when just flying about.

Video showing some new online features is imminent. The 3rd pillar seems to be a bunch of smaller stuff.

Thanks for all the tips @Profanicus! Yeah I’ve seen a bunch of upgrades I want, right now I’m wondering if the permanent refiner is the first thing to focus on, and then the rest, or the advanced mining tool first.
Then I’ll go planet hunting… heh. Worst bit so far was when I got to a planet that seemed really nice, but then all the animals started attacking me and I ended up loosing everything I collected (went back to the grave to pick up the gear and got killed again so ALL WAS LOST).

Finding myself enjoying the part where I learn the language the most, so I’m mostly running about collecting knowledge stones =)

So other than riding animals, what did you all pick up from the trailer?

Not my thoughts, but something I saw on Reddit:

  1. Rideable (tameable?) fauna. Riding dinos, crabs, whatever
  2. Multiplayer games with some considerably larger amount at a time than 4
  3. A multiplayer-oriented space station that can warp in 1:01. Looks just like the object that was previously the “anomaly” that housed Nada and Polo. Perhaps this is instanced? Several possibilities… we don’t get a good look at the station at entry, and the warp out 1:36 is mysterious.
  4. Hints of combat updates, a flash of sentinel combat 0:44 and space 0:59
  5. Hints of environmental improvements with larger flora perhaps? A larger, more impressive underwater environment 1:25
  6. Some unknown machine toward the beginning 0:20, so new craftable pieces?
  7. Perhaps improvements to automated miners. Seeing a lot of atmospheric gas extractors
  8. 0:43 Perhaps lights on the cave ceiling, with wiring? Bioluminescece? There appears to be a line going down to the left as if a wire.
  9. A thin, barely visible blue line in the air 0:29. Could be a boundary demarcation of base, moving platform track, or something else.
  10. Flash of the pilgrim exocraft 0:43. Why? Perhaps it will be made available earlier in progression?
  11. ???

Thanks! That was great. It’s been a year since I played so it was hard for me to pick out the new stuff, other than the critters you can ride.

I thought Minecraft was gonna be the last game where I punched a tree!

Still not convinced I want to dip into this. Maybe my kids would like it.

Looks great! I’m excited to hop back in and see what Beyond brings to the game.

One thing I really hope they’re including is some new music. I wish you had more control over the game music, as there are some pieces in NMS that are fantastic (and that trailer has another such piece), but they just seem to pop up randomly, and sometimes don’t even play all the way through. I would love to be able to play them in a loop while I explore and build and fly around.

My boy really loves it as a spectator sport.

Spectator sport is a problem. I’m not sure there’s enough here to keep me engaged.

Yeah, I’m ok with the idea of music being dynamic, but there are some great ones in there that I don’t hear often enough.

I just bought this game (again) for Xbox. Figure I’ll play it more there since I use that console more and have more friends on the system.

Absolutely can’t wait for Beyond. That trailer looks incredible!

This game has improved OUT OF SIGHT since I first played it and tossed it aside with disgust. So many good games out around the 14th but I am definitely keen to give this a spin in VR…

Riding dinos!! Wohoo.

I’m still trying to get a spin of this. A Gek just GAVE me a Frighter yesterday. I have no idea what to do with it. I DO NOT want to go hunting pirates - I absolutely hate the space shooting part. I probably need to get a WAY batter spaceship but still, it’s such a god damn nuisance.

Found a Gravitino Ball. Should I sell it or keep it for some kind of upgrade?

Also found a broken down starship. I “bought” it (for free), but is there any way to find my way back to it? It’s a bit annoying not to have a map to pin stuff on.

Also - when sentinels start hunting you, what’s the best way to get rid of them? Killing them only brings on more, I tried to escape in my ship but they immediately sent another ship after me, shot down that one (after like 20 minutes of spinning around in space trying not to die), and they sent 3 more after me. So far, my only strategy to get rid of hunter spaceships is to dock on freighters or space stations.

Yeah you get your first freighter free as part of the story. It’s basically a mobile base, you can store items and starships on it. Also lets you hire a fleet of frigates which you send on expiditions to gather stuff for you.

Battles get easier once you get a better ship, armour, and weapons. You don’t have to hunt pirates, outside maybe one or two story missions (don’t recall how many). All the missions offered at stations are optional.

They are used as ingredients in some module upgrades. Early on I tend to sell them - farm a planet and make the big bucks!

You can build a beacon that marks a waypoint, allowing you to find stuff again. I think you can place 5 per planet.

You’ll find plenty of broken starships though. Keep an eye on your radar when flying over planet surface, they show up as dots just like other ships - except they won’t move. Also find them using the Signal Booster looking for distress frequencies.

I believe one thing you can do is warp in your freighter and dock there when you get a clear moment between spawns. It’s been a while since I’ve tangled with space-bound sentinels since they used to be so painful…
