You’re correct! A bunch were buried.

Could it be some kind of cloud sync save game issue?

I had the same thought. I’m switching Steam to offline mode to see if that does anything. This is so utterly bizarre. Really frustrating too, because I’m trying to play with a friend who is brand new to the game and he’s using VR to boot.

Yes, seems to be Cloud Saves Gone Wild. I remembered you could disable cloud saves by right-clicking the game on Steam. I did that but still had the weird phantom save game that isn’t mine. Started a game in a new slot, and now I’m on regular difficulty.

Wow, that all is just… really weird.

If you’re flying between systems, you’ll need Warp fuel for your warp drive. There’s a main quest to unlock the recipe to craft it yourself and it’s not too expensive or hard to find the materials.

I started over again. This may be the third or fourth time. Maybe this time I will reach the center haha.

Oops I meant using the teleported to go between systems. I realized warping between them did.

It’s possible that the weird file was really yours. They rebooted the entire universe with one of the patches. I barely could recognize anything on my file. Maybe that’s it.

It was strange, because it was a science/exploration looking ship, which I haven’t owned before. And the game was dated from 2016, which any game I had from back then would have been deleted when I played last, which was when they first added multiplayer. When I reinstalled it today I had that MP save which I also deleted and my game list showed empty through my multiple restarts trying to get it working on Normal difficulty instead of Survival. Then randomly one restart later and that old save just showed up out of nowhere.

I’m at a total loss on both counts, but problems went away as soon as I disabled cloud saves. Feels like somehow my cloud saves were not pointing to the right place or something but I’ve never seen anything like that happen before.

Someone just shared this on the Discord:

Which Discord? Not the QuarterToThree one…?

A couple more questions.

What does Economy “High Voltage” mean when looking at a star system?
Can I install a teleporter on my freighter?

https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Economy
https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Power_Generation_Economy

Power Generation systems are represented by a voltage box symbol and are seen as red stars when using the economy filter in the Galactic Map.

Power Generation systems supply tradeables to Mining systems and buy from Technology systems.

Names

Power Generation systems can have one of the following names:

  • High Voltage
  • Fuel generation
  • Energy Supply
  • Power Generation

Nope. :(

Excellent thanks!

I decided to spend the morning unlocking building tech via the Anomaly vendor. I have a few of the most-needed things, but I wanted to just do a ton. So the first thing was to actually get that bit that lets you air-drop your vehicles from your freighter. It is awesome, and makes vehicles so much more fun. I basically land on a planet, scan everything I can see, then hop in my Rover or Mech and start barreling around the countryside digging up buried tech. No more need to build platforms or anything- if you have ever built a platform for a vehicle, anywhere in the galaxy, you can summon it in seconds if you have your Freighter in the system. Drive your rover to the edge of an ocean? Just summon your Nautilus. Get tot he other side? Call down the mech. Woot.

Thanks for that image @barstein. I’ve also decided it’s time to get upgraded ships. I’ve got T2/B-Class of each type (except exotic), which is a good solid base to build from. I just have to find ships I like the look of that are T3 A/S, and that chart will help with that.

If I want to go somewhere that is many star system hops away, is there a way I can mark that system so I don’t lose it while trying to get there? I’m a bit confused by how the galaxy map functions.

Freighter mission “Captain reports possible activity”…
Are we supposed to do something when we see that message?

When you are browsing and you select a system without initiating travel, you should see a button for setting a waypoint. This simply adds an icon to that system in the map, and the game will retain the icon…indefinitely, I believe. This will give you an obvious visual indicator later when browsing, but only if you happen to be looking at that area of the galaxy again. Additionally, there is another function for changing that line you see between systems (active mission, ATLAS path, etc.). Dunno what is on PC but on the PS4 it’s left/right on the d-pad. Use that to chart a course for the star you’re seeking. Note that each time you open the map, you’ll have to toggle that again to show the line leading to your waypoint. (I think by default it shows a path to the star for your currently active mission.)

I don’t think you have to do anything, but I believe you can check in with them while they are on a mission. Otherwise, you’ll get the full report after they get back and you debrief them.

One last question, when I sort by economy (filter) on the galaxy map. If I want to find the wealthiest stars what am I looking for? I can’t find anything that says if the colors mean something or if it’s the size of the star to indicate what’s best?

I used trial and error, but I found this in a reddit post:

Keep in mind that some of the info might be out of date.
