Ok ships from current save.

The Freighter, is an A class and was the third rescue, which I accepted. I was excited! My brother started a save at the same time, and his freighter (second rescue) was an S class, but smaller. I do like the looks of this one.

I have a thing for itty bitty shuttles. It is an A class, I use it for black holes, and planet puddle-hopping sometimes.

My first purchase of the current save. A class, useful, large inventory. Not bad hyperdrive range once updated. My bread & butter ship right now, until I find an exotic or finish upgrading the hyperdrive on the S explorer I found. I’m sure right when I finish kitting out the explorer, I’ll find an exotic! So I am delaying while finishing up the quest lines.

My hauler. I always loved this model. Only a B and that was all I could afford. I may keep and upgrade its class later. Large inventory.

Another view showing color scheme underneath.

That hauler is awesome. So is the freighter!

Anyone know the radio tale behind making food items like bait can only handle 5 items at a time in the food processor, and you can’t stack many in your inventory as well?

For feeding, the creature pellets stack well and do the job. The only reason I need the specialized stuff is for fuel for an autofeeder next to an auto livestock harvester. So they are only made on an as needed basis when I want to stock the autofeeder only. And that isn’t bad as the bait type helps you sort what you want to collect (eggs vs honey vs milk) as the bait is usually specific to what they produce, when I have several options in range.

Otherwise its dry kibble for everyone.

I really need to get into the monster herding in this game. Apparently you can ride them, too? At least I remember seeing that somewhere.

That Freighter and Hauler are aces! None of my ships are very cool. I’ve been on they lookout for some neat stuff to buy /trade into, but haven’t seen anything yet. I’m sitting on 45 million+ units burning a hole in my pocket (and growing by 5 million or so a day with three fleets always on patrol)! Where are all the cool ships?!

My searching the galaxy ship. A class but jump distance is nice until I can find an exotic

A class capital ship hated the color but I like the Model.

Whoa - that explorer is AWESOME. Wants.

Honey? I’ve never gotten honey before. I’m jealous! I just got my first eggs today though and have plenty of milk. I’m trying to not cheat my way to learning new recipes.

My first time finding the honey. This save though … man … the only thing I found so far that lays eggs was a predator on an aggressive sentinel planet. Noped on that.

Place a signal booster at the crashed freighter and use a drop pod coordinate data. New waypoint should get rid of the crashed freighter waypoint. It’s an annoying bug but this is a fix for now

Do birds eat out of the automated feeders? If so I can’t seem to get some moth parrots to do it. Any suggestions if so?

Also, can you get an S-Class multi-tool in normal travels at a space station?

I don’t know if stations have them. I bet they do but it’s as rare as anywhere else. The way I find a good S-class multitool is to (1) find a model I like with the # of slots I want, (2) visit minor settlements until I find one with an S-class version of that tool. Requires patience, like ship hunting. I still only have A-class tools at this point.

Also should mention that the NMS Coordinates Exchange reddit is a good resource for finding cool ships/multitools.

Yes. And they stay in those systems.

Here is a link to the portal repository site. It has tags for ones with S-Class multitools at the space station. That’s how I got mine.

Yeah, using portals is probably fastest, if you’re after something fairly specific. I just spent hours looking for a particular hauler design and gave up, and am currently in a system someone shared, waiting for a good version of the hauler I want.

On another topic, earlier I was teleporting around using the teleporter in the Anomaly, checking out other people’s bases, and discovered that it’s possible to rob someone of all their hard-earned Active Indium*. Probably not the best idea to name your base “MONEY MAKING MACHINE”.

*I didn’t do it, though.

You can turn that off by the way but most of the people that post public portals allow access to the bases.

ESC -> Options -> Network. You can set who can build/destruct your base, can join your game, if you have voice/text allowed, or show your location markers to.

I’m not sure they can get into player storage, but they can loot machines and mining storage?

Quick question for those of you who have played Survival mode.

Is this 250 limit stacking in my suit going to stay this way forever? In other words, is that part of the challenge or am I just gimped? If that’s supposed to be part of the challenge I might just reroll normal versus survival, that’s insane.

It’s been so long since I restarted I’m not sure what is normal and what is not.

Based on what I’ve been seeing the survival players saying in the Discord, yes, that’s part of the challenge.

I’ve been considering it also, but I’m not sure it’s for me yet.

Yup no way to increase it other then to use the cargo section there you can store 500.

I’m rolling with it so far. It’s very binding to early game for sure. The refiners also have very limited capacity.

I got my ship going and was able to hop to another planet in the same system. Fortunately it has great weather with the exception of a rare storm. I set up my newbie base there and have been doing okay but I’m poor but that’s okay right now.

Noob ship:

Tiny inventories on the ships too. This is going to be hard.

So I’m be-bopping along and find my first single trading post, the kind with only one landing pad, and that frequently sells a multi-tool and upgrade components along with a galactic buy/sell terminal. I check the tool on the wall. SCORE!!! The very first tool I find for sale is an S-Class. But wait, how will I afford this thing?

I accept the challenge. I’m not sure if this thing goes away if I log out so I’m mining the cobalt out of the nearby cave and using a portable refiner to make as much cash as possible. I think I can do this.

To be continued …

As far as I can tell, multi-tools on display always stay the same.

…but huh, the explanation on the wiki is confusing:

I’d just put a beacon and come back later.

Definitely beacon that puppy! It should stay exactly the same. If you didn’t and can’t locate that spot later, just look for Minor Settlements in that general area. Or visit other Minor Settlements until the good version shows up again. (Designs are consistent for a given system, stats vary.)
