I’m so excited. Found my first giant dinosaur! And I was able to get a new item from them “creature eggs”

This thing is huge!

And then to my amazement, just one system over I found a giant Stegosaur. 180 hours and no giants. Then in the course of 1 hour I find two :)

Hey, I -just- did this over the last three days. Lots and lots of jumps and a whole hell of a lot of black holes and subsequent broken upgrades, once each black hole jump. When I started, my jump capability was over 1,200 LY, but I learned a tip. I did not know that things in the, “Technology,” slots of your ship do not break or cannot be broken by black hole jumping. Sooo, I parked my hauler and went with the ship with the largest amout of Technology slots and filled it with as many S-Class hyperdrive upgrades as I could find along the way.

Since we are unspoilering some here, one time you can do this with the quest and select your galaxy type. Repeat, only one time. The rest of the time, to get out of a galaxy permanently, you have to warp to the center, then in the last system, choose the lone path to the core as your next jump.

But there is a catch. Doing things this way means you follow the numerical path from that point on, noted here:
https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Galaxy

But linked here too:

What that means is after that quest, you no longer get to pick your galaxy type, it cycles through all selections as you go through the full list of 256 galaxies (should you choose to.)

Also of note, each galaxy change breaks all multi-tool upgrades, and any GENERAL slot upgrade in your Exo-suit or Ship. So choose where things are put, wisely.

Not that I noticed, I still got the same relative things from the varied star types for the systems, all the way up to the center. The only difference I found was that the closer to the center that I got, the more I noticed other systems actually found by other people versus me being in there for the first contact.

So those of you riding the huge dinos and herding stuff, what do you make with those items? Anything decent?

I’ll find out today. I’d been trying to collect every ingredient I could from animals before going on a massive cooking adventure.

You should start up crop based trade goods. You’ve probably had or looted some of these along the way.

I currently grow and make things for two of the sub tiered items:
Circuit Boards
Living Glass

They sell for quite a bit. Unlike ore, generally every system purchases them at a positive (green) rate which can be substantial.

EDIT: Wait, I forgot that the recipes for some of these are from quest rewards I believe. So you’ll need to stick to something you know how to make.

Yup! It’s a long process, flying to the Center, but it’s a fun challenge that’s worth doing once at least.

It’s worth picking up a junker for black holes. Just repair the pulse drive and launch system, and warp to but not through the black hole using your jump ship (e.g. your 1200 LY Explorer), then summon your freighter near the black hole and get into your broken black hole ship.

Related tip: it’s possible to get your hyperdrive range up quite high if you want to spend the time. Those hyperdrive modules vary in jump distance buffs quite a bit, and I think the highest they can be is +250. From a guy who helped me out on Discord: “When you find a space station that sells hyperdrive upgrades, stay there. Buy the upgrade and install it. If it isn’t better than one that you already have installed discard it, get in your ship then get back out and reload the autosave. I know, I know. You just spent nanites for an upgrade you didn’t use. But, when you save/reload, it also resets the vendor and he will have a different upgrade. I spent most of a day doing that. That’s how I got all those upgrades that are close to max.” This is helping me out a lot.

Oh and also, even though Cadmium and Emeril drives become redundant for reaching all types of star systems once you install an Indium drive, do not remove them from your jumper! I only realized the other day that they also buff the range.

So right now I’m in the 25th galaxy ,Twerbetek, another Norm galaxy. Following the lead from that other random player at the Anomaly, I set up a little outpost here and put the galaxy name and number in the base name. Anyone browsing bases at the Anomaly teleporter while I’m around will have an opportunity to pop over here. I love the idea of creating little stepping stones for the community.

What does that give you when you tame it? Is it one of the special gigantic things? Or did it just happen to be big?

I wish those were more common and there was more variety in the animals.

Just arrived in Sivarates (#26, Norm galaxy) via the Core, as that player base I used earlier dropped me a mere 3k LY from it in Twerbetek. Unfortunately, I’m currently 710,000 LY from the Sivarates core.

I would love to join in the animal husbandry fun and ride this fella, but I’m too busy exploring and trailblazing right now!

Just so I’ve got this ship shopping thing… is this how it works?

Go to a space station or trading post. Watch several ships come in and if they’re not the cargo size you need, just reload latest auto save and there’s a chance you’ll get all new sizes? Or all new ship types?

It is one of the big fauna. I only used creature pellets to feed it enough to ride it. To get products you need to feed it the specialized bait, which I did not do. I would guess milk.

It was creepy the giant you found is much cooler!

I’m lazy, reloading save is more if you want to save-scum your initial frieghter rescue (I didn’t). At an outpost on planet, or in the space station, if you just wait, the available models will keep coming in with the different classes. So the ship may be a B once then a C twice then an A. You may need to wait … a while. I often buy up harvestable plants while waiting from the pilots and just store them in the much larger containers now, and farm less later.

Two caveats. The first wave that spawns is usually static. So if the model you want is in that, save-scummng may save you time.

The initial slot capacity is often tied to model.

Longer explanation there. So if you are waiting for a model that spawns “small” slot arrangement to come in with max large, it will never happen.

What I don’t know is if you get one with “small” and then use the new ship upgrade abilities can you max it to large later (very expensive or after farming augmentations). I think maybe?

Anyone know?

You get the recipes by “farming” the manufacturing building terminals. This is easier with the newish “Secure Building” buyable waypoint categories. Answer the questions correctly and you may get two points to buy in the tech tree each time. Just filled out the tech tree for this save last night.

This is slightly outdated, but can be useful when you don’t know too many words:

Operation Center/Manufacturing Facility - Google Sheets

You get a lot of the low/mid-level crafts from mission rewards. So I also tend to toss them all into my containers and wait until I have recipes. Did my first set of full tree combines last night and went from 60M to 220M.

(You may know how this changed - but felt it was a more complete answer).

Spent most of the week doing the living ship quest. No short cuts. I had time to kill:P

Whoa that’s awesome!

All S Class starships can can be upgraded to max 48/21 (general/tech) slots, so any T1/T2 starship you want to upgrade to have max inventory slots will need to be upgraded to S Class first, unless it’s already S. This is one of the reasons waiting for an S version is usually a good idea. And yeah, that’s a lot of augments.

One side note about exotic slots. Exotics can have a random number of slots within the range below (I’ve shared this chart before but it’s been updated a few times):

Hey jpinard, that’s an amazing find, the huge ‘Diplo’. What was the size reported by it, do you remember? That looks to be about as large as they come; 8+ meters.

That’s my thing in this game. While always keeping an eye out for a new ship to add to the collection or a cool alien or experimental multitool, I’m on an eternal quest for MEGAFAUNA. Technically that is 6m and up but quite often a 4 or 5 meter specimen can look just as impressive.

haha USS Newbie! Love it. I named my first ship USS Pinto. Still have it, in fact. It’s nostalgic, like my Atari 2600 up in the attic. :)

I’m at my tv in BPM so I don’t have screenshot accessibility right now so here are 2 images I took with my cat era.

I think it’s hilarious the large stegosaurus has tiny organs.

Even a shuttle? And you can increase the number of tech slots too?

Correct!

When did the add the ability to have more than 1 multitool? I’m happy that they finally fixed the upload all pending discoveries button. That was a nice little chunk of nanites.

Back when I did my freighter I didn’t save scum, and ended up with a c class junker. My current fleet:

For a bit a was in the habit of grabbing junk ships, and then trading up at trading posts which is how I got the next 3. They are all a class, but haven’t been stocked with anything yet.

My main ship so far is this b class:
