Sounds like I can ignore it, that’s cool. I think it’s a haule - it had 40 slots. Immediately after I found another ship, a small one, and I’ve been fixing it up. All this is pretty fun!
So started again & playing radically differently I have gotten a lot further economically. I am currently buying & scrapping cheap B& A class ships and installing any storage augments I get & really good upgrade modules into my current “keeper”. However when I look at the value of my ship, it is not going up - I thought the additional storage slots would increase the value??
After playing a bit I have understood more of the game. They sure don’t hold your hand to do they?
I also went to the Nexus and and saw other players. I thought you could not see others? I did see a pretty cool living ship when I was there.
I also did one of the Nexus quests which was a base building one. Are those things like dailie quests etc?I chose the base building one becauseThe other ones said you should not do it solo. i did that one because it rewarded a lot of wiring looms; I’m tired of buying them so I did it.
Is there a way to make decent money early on? I saw a stream where someone was digging up ancient bones but I have not found a a similar item to sell that’s worth a lot.
Also, is there a way to get inside secure buildings? And should I bother if I don’t have my atlas pass yet?
Mine cobalt. Lots of it. Underground in the caves. And refine some into ionised cobalt. Go from space station to space station selling it…if you have enough to sell, you will crash the economy in that system (to -80% or so), then you can buy it all back plus a bit more for a big profit. Oh and once it is crashed you can go round buying more from traders at the space station, on planet trading posts etc.
Re ionised cobalt, make sure before you sell, that you can buy it back again; if it is not listed in the goods available for purchase you won’t be able to buy it back after you sell it.
If you don’t want to cheese money (i.e. the cobalt system) you can make pretty good money by either salvaging ships from distress signals, or by finding alien artifact sites. That’s how I’ve made most of my money.
For salvaging take your navigational data to a station and buy distress signal ships, follow the map to a ship, repair it minimally so it can fly, then take it up to a space station and salvage. You’ll then need to go to the trade monitor to sell the pieces you get from it (so have ample room in your inventory).
Alien artifacts can be found with via maps traded in with navigational data. When you get to a site there will be buried stuff you have to dig out and get keys, then there’s a big chest somewhere buried that will take multiple keys and give you an item that usually sells for a good amount.
Another way to make money is scanning plants and animals with an upgraded scanner. I get 67k per plant and 124k 204k and 381k per animal depending on rarity. If I remember correctly the Geks space stations have the S class scanner modules. Don’t try to find everything on a planet just the easy stuff and move to the next.
Huh, I never knew an upgraded scanner would give you more money for that. I wondered what the point of scanning was (outside of missions) since the money you got seemed like nothing.
You need 3 S class upgrades. Scanning is also good for nanites to buy the upgrades.

Sounds like another major update is landing next week:
Hello Games delivering the (free) goods yet again! Always an exciting time to see what gets added.
Mysterious!
So, uh, should someone tell them about starting to charge people for their work? I’m pretty sure that’s how a business works. It’s like they’re from the Bizarro world gaming industry.
You’ve done a dozen free patches, many major ones. You’ve redeemed yourselves. It’s okay now. It’s okay.
I’m guessing they’re going to rerelease the game for the new consoles and ask for more money this way. I mean, I hope they will.

If they can do spiffy things with the new hardware I’d buy it immediately.
He says in that link that this has been their “most successful year yet”. I’ll assume he’s maybe referring to sales? I imagine they’re doing just fine with their model.
That said, yeah, I’d probably pay for some DLC if it was only on next-Gen consoles.
The game is still listed at $60 regular price, with occasional sales 50% off. They’re in Xbox Game Pass. They’re probably doing great for a small studio.
Whoah, pricey! I got the PS4 disc brand-new at Best Buy for something like 15 or 20 bucks four years ago, and it wasn’t even a special price or anything. Granted, that was when they were still in the doldrums, but still…
Prices going up with time. Told you guys, Bizarro world!
Looks like it’s been down to ~$20 upon occasion on PC.

Its insane, the amount of work they are doing on this game, AFTER it released. I still dont get it.
Their tail sales must be enormous to be able to support this? 20 people working full time for 3 years is expensive!

I picked it up for $25 a couple of months ago. I played it through the tutorial and the sort of lost interest.
My damn backlog never goes down
Whenever I see a new patch for this it merely reminds me that I have yet to see like 80% of the game… like ground vehicles, exosuits, living ships… I have played for a bit but they have added so much that I can never catch up.

Just wait a few years - maybe they will slow down development then :-D
