Yeah it sucks but they’ll get it eventually I’m sure!
It would probably help to submit a ticket to their ZenDesk if you get time.

This one has been around for a while. And it happens to NPCs, too. Once when I was defending a freighter from pirates, three of the pirates got stuck in the structure of the freighter and it took me many attempts to find and destroy them. Certain areas on the outside are like a roach motel.
This might be a different bug in preserving old planets.
The update changed the way procedural generation of planets happen, but that would break planets people have already found. This is why previously large updates required you to restart the game to see the updates. In order to not require a restart Hello Games had to make it so that if a planet had been tagged already then it would use the procedural mechanisms that were used to originally generate that planet.
So I bet the planet is tagged with the buggy algorithm and the game is halfway using that same algorithm still.
Or Hello Games is relying on the discovery data, which may think only part of the planet was explored.
Another big bunch of fixes in Experimental today! Including…
Virtual keyboard is now supported in Steam VR.
Finally! Now I can go back to naming all my creatures! :)

I was running around when I noticed an icon that said “pilot has landed”. Does that mean some other player landed near my base? The pilot took off before I could reach him.
No, the new update lets NPCs land directly on planets, instead of just settlements or outposts landing pads.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering what was going on. I had never seen that before.
No worries! It’s pretty cool to see. When you talk to them you get the standard ‘trade’ and ‘make offer on ship’ options.

Yeah, I have had quite a few NPC’s land near by base, just chilling a bit checking their ships, before launching off again.
Anyways - a thing I’ve noticed. There are FAR fewer ships flying around than previously. Before, starbases were busy places, as were my capital ship. Now, there are practically no-one around. Its a more lonely place out there now.
Also, the ships are… poor! Pretty much every single ship is a C or at best a B class ship. I assume this is to force players to use some of upgrade path for their ship, which I dont get yet? I get the freigther upgrade - get modules and then upgrade, but my own ships I havent found anything yet I can use.
Maybe it’s just different RNG. I recently had a trading post where there were far more ships buzzing about than I’ve seen in ages!
I’ve had several traders touch down near me while I was out running about, and at least two of them were selling black market items. I didn’t buy from the first one (was too low on pugneum) and the second didn’t have anything I was interested in. Still, pretty cool for them to have included this!
Oh yeah, that’s right! The black market items!
And don’t forget the black market vendor in the space stations, across from the multi-tool vendor!
I started a brand new normal game and in my first system there was a Paradise planet. As part of the storyline I warped to a second system and that one had a paradise moon so I’m really loving the new planet generation!
I believe the ships show up with a green icon because I noticed one once and thought it was unusual and it turned out to be a guy who just landed there to check out a ship or whatever.

Has anyone experienced this bug? It appears that the battle for my free freighter is happening inside a planet. I fly all around the planet in space, but when I try to approach the freighter I start to enter the atmosphere. Then when I leave the planet I get a message asking me to save the freighter again.
The freighter rescue mission will persist until you save the freighter or leave the system, regardless of whatever else you do in that system. Going into a planet’s atmosphere or even landing on the planet won’t clear it. My first guess would be that the freighter is not actually bugged and inside that planet, but in the system as it should be and on the other side of the planet or something. The mission waypoint can be (at least for me) easy to lose track of sometimes, until you reorient yourself and/or get closer to the battle.
