Yeah, NMS is often held up as an example of how to do right by customers you’d previously failed, thankfully. Deservedly so, too. It’s quite incredible what they’ve done with the game since release.

You decided to take this video down, then? I see it as unavailable now.

I made a bunch of them and no one watched them but my mom. So, yeah. Why bother?

Same! But I really wanted another expedition with the last update, and we still don’t have any word. :(

‘Frontiers’ sounds promising, like we’re getting some more focus on exploration again!

Yeah, I’d like to see more expeditions too… maybe Frontiers will include an “Expeditions 2.0” implementation or something. ;)

Faaaantastic. No Man’s Sky is legitimately one of my favorite games of all time. There is no other game that manages to evoke that feeling of being a spaceship captain. It’s like being in my own personal space opera movie. Awesome stuff and such a great redemption story. I’m really excited for the next expedition.

I haven’t tried to play this since November of 2018, just kept bouncing off it looking for the fun. Seems like a lot of updates since then. :)

HUGE No Man’s Sky update
incl. 2nd Twitch drop campaign and 3rd expedition

Wow! Looks like I’ll be doing a whole new game of this soon.

The mad lads did it!

F#ckity f#ck as if I didn’t have enough to play.

I have this on Gamepass but I’ve been thinking I should buy it somewhere as the devs really do deserve my money.

They deserve your money, so yeah, buy it somewhere! I have bought it three times (Steam on release, GOG when it came out there, and on PS4 so my kid could play) and I think Hello Games deserved every cent and then some. ;)

Oh WTF. The update seems to have remapped the controls, or the controls aren’t working correctly.

Edit: Oof. And a hard crash.

This is absolutely insane what these guys are doing. Hats off to them for redeeming the game - and more!

That is amazing but I want to see more work on the planetary side of things. You can pick any spot to land on, fly in any direction for kilometers and you will have seen all that the planet has to offer. Where’s the signs of plate techtonics, erosion, meteor impacts, biomes, etc. How about scanning a planet a la Starflight and Star Control 2 using your cursors to land somewhere that looks interesting?

I tried the game a couple of years ago with VR, your to the point where I managed to get off the starting planet, and then my interest fizzled. I think it was a combination on never getting on with the VR control scheme, and the limited inventory.

Every time I see one of these massive updates I think to myself that I should give it another go, maybe in 2D this time, but the thought of the tedious mineral collection just keeps me away

I have the same issue with Subnautica :(

Yeah, they’ve gone way past “simply” redeeming themselves at this point. The game is getting ridiculous now (in a good way).

The 5th major update in 2021. That’s pretty crazy.

I agree. I saw comments about how improved the game was and I don’t understand what’s the difference. I don’t understand what is there to do in that game apart from following the main quest. Every planet has a slightly different set of elements but they all have basic stuff you need for surviving and fueling your starship. They all have language learning monoliths, trade outposts, upgrade chambers. Maybe more of functionally the same hostile flora and fauna, maybe less. Even caves look the same. If I want to improve my stuff I can walk the same planet and find the same precious resources and chests I’d find everywhere else. Opening up new systems allows for buying more upgrades but that’s about it. I don’t get it, it’s as if I’ve been tricked and Steam actually downloads 1.0 version.

Go back and look at what each of update of the game added and explain to me that there are no differences. Yes, the same basic game play loop is there and if you don’t like that the updates probably won’t change that. But to say that there have been no significant changes since 1.0 is absurd.
