Signal boosters came with the 1.1 Foundation Update. They replaced the old signal scanners that you found and used the bypass chips on.

Started my very first game ever and decided to go with survival mode. The starting planet is a hellish inferno and turns out survival mode’s pretty tough. At least for a newb. I finally made it to my ship after many struggles and near death experiences only to see it hovering about 20 feet in the air. Kind of immersion breaking for a crashed ship. Fortunately, I could still enter it from the ground by standing under it and looking up.

I finally got the floating ship repaired only to find out that I needed to fuel the thrusters to 100% just to take off. When I finally got that done and took off, I found out why. Apparently survival mode uses 100% of your fuel for each takeoff. When I landed again my tank was empty and I had to hunt around for plutonium all over again. Uh, no, I think I’m going to start on normal mode so I can takeoff and land more than once on a tank of fuel.

Crazy… :)

Liftoff is 25 Plutonium on Normal and a whopping 200 on Survival/Permadeath (unless they just changed it again).

Really makes you appreciate free landing pads and beacons.

I have 24 bucks in my Steam account. Why are you guys making me think about spending it on No Man’s Sky?

Have the animals been un-derpified at all over the last year? Have dialogue and interactions been streamlined? Last I saw there was irritating unskippable animations every time you talked to an alien or interacted with an object.

The animals are totally random. There’s still lots of derp, but also lots of somewhat cool animals, too. If your looking for no derp, you probably don’t want a procedurally generated game.

You can skip dialogue and the little animations. That was before 1.3.

I read there is a pretty sweet photo mode in game, why do we not have any screenshots from people playing now? :p

When is this new update going to live? My PS4 version was updated yesterday, was that it? So the new update is already live?

It’s live.

Yep, that’s it!

Steam’s patch was 4 gig.

The previous GOG version was a 4 gig download. The new version download is 5.8 gig. So, it looks like the new content totals about 1.8 gig.

I’m liking my normal mode start a lot more than my survival mode start. Much more relaxing. Another cold planet but at least I can stay outside longer than 2 minutes at a time. I had some initial stuttering on normal mode but a few graphics tweaks fixed that. Runs nice on my 5 year old rig.

Heck, real world biology has plenty of derp.

Derp.

Hell, I’m pretty derpy. I can handle a bit of derp.

I just want to occasionally see really cool stuff like in those initial videos. From watching streams, it seems like 99% goofy.

My experience at launch was about 20% goofy, 50% plain, 30% very cool looking stuff when it came to animal life.

Ah, thanks. That’s a pretty decent ratio.

God help me, I’ll probably jump in. Good with a 360 controller I assume?

I’ve not had to look at minimum specs on any game recently, so was surprised when NMS popped up a warning my 6gb wasnt enough. 23 mins later (a big chunk of which was loading), just enough to see even if i upgraded ram it still would have horrible headbob and i wasnt so sure i was taken with the concept of it, so refunded.

I love the derp. Games with hand-designed characters usually lack the derp factor, though, so I was just trying to convey that NMS has derp.

On the other hand, I was playing last night and came across a HUGE crashed freighter. That was cool to explore.
