So @ineffablebob is knifing across the country in a quest to inflict as much damage as he can over a wide swath of the nation in a set period of time.
December 30th (Sunday) is the date he’ll be stabbing into the NoVa area. I know we have several Qt3’ers in the DC Metro area besides @triggercut and myself. @abidingdude and @Charlatan , you guys pop into my muddy thoughts when I think of locals, but not sure I’m remembering rightly.
I was thinking off dinner and drinks at some vaguely local site like Tysons Corner, but we can re-center as we hear from more folks.
I am 100% in. Tysons is fine with me, but if people want to meet somewhere else I’m sure it will also be ok. I’m also thinking of @Freezer-TPF since he’s a Nats fan.
Despite this all possibly taking place literally (correctly used, btw) a five minute walk from my front door in Tyson’s, I’m afraid I’ll have to miss out. I’m going to be out of town until after the 1st of the year.
Have fun! Some solid places to have the get together in and around Tyson’s.
In Tyson’s mall itself, Gordon Biersch does what they do really well. Might be a bit loud and it’s a mall during the holidays, but December 30 should be fine.
…Not in the Mall but across Leesburg Pike is BJ’s. It’s solid, good chain pub-restaurant fare. Next to it is Patsy’s American, which is also solid.
There are some other brewpubs in and around the area. There’s a Dogfish Ale pub in Seven Corners I’ve been wanting to get to.
And, honestly, my old haunt of J. Gilbert’s in McLean is great. Expensive, and they close on Sundays pretty close to 9pm, but it’s good.
I like Gordon Biersch. Really, I like any restaurant run by people who make beer. Dogfish is also good. Sweetwaters.
Founding Farmers is really good, but sometimes hard to get a table without a reservation. Which I guess wouldn’t be a problem unless I am really incompetent. So: high risk.
Where should we meet & eat for our NoVa get together on December 30th, 2019?
All of these restaurants are in roughly in the Tyson’s Corner area. Since the 30th is a Monday I assume we are meeting around dinnertime. If this assumption is incorrect please lemme know!
What time do we want to meet and eat and drink? I will attempt to make a reservation for the winning time. Regardless as to the winning time, traffic will be gnarly.
From my perspective, time won’t matter much as I’ll be doing my best to be in the area early afternoon. Of course, traffic and weather could conspire against me…
I’m off that day also but I didn’t know if other people were working. Anytime is fine with me also. @ineffablebob, where are you coming in from and how were you going to travel around the area?
I’m driving, remember, so I’ll be mobile. Planning to text people via the numbers I got from the PM thread as I make progress toward you to keep everyone up to date.
