Thank you, everyone who has voted a Republican into office recently. If this shit passes, I hope you enjoy the idea of killing so many of your countrymen :)

That depends. What color are they?
It’s still helping way too many people.
Still in McConnell’s pocket is his ability to offer Paul another clean repeal vote (which won’t pass) in exchange for his aye vote on motion to proceed on Graham Cassidy.

Call your senators, folks. I’m back to calling them every day.
If you don’t do this, then all your bitching about this on a forum doesn’t mean shit.
The only public hearing on this bill will be today.

Probably more than you would think. Not a great number statistically though. But is health insurance available for illegals? I think it probably is in California (I remember something from the news) but I doubt many states have that.
Oh? How much do I think? Got a stat for that?
lolwut?
Did you just refute your first sentence? “More than you think, but not really very many at all.”
Treatment is; go to a hospital and you’ll be treated. As noted, health insurance is not.
Do you now? Got a link?
Oh, so nevermind. (Let me help: if you’re undocumented, like a DACA recipient, you can get health insurance through your employer or education institution if you’re in college. You don’t get to participate in the ACA markets or Medicaid expansion, in California or anywhere else.)
Good talk, Russ.

I spent the spring working for the IRS. I saw tax returns from people who were “undocumented”. I know they file tax returns. I also know they are held to standards which make it tough for them to get a refund unless they follow those standards.
No, that number is not a very large part of the whole.
And yes, I believe illegals can get health insurance in California. So you agree with me here.
So, what’s your problem?
Anything else?

Undocumented workers can buy private health insurance just like anyone else. They can also get employer sponsored health insurance, assuming they find an employer willing to provide it.
And they can and do pay income taxes. The IRS offers an alternative to the SSN for them, the ITIN. They even promise not to communicate with ICE regarding ITIN filers, because they are just happy to get their cut.
But undocumented workers are not eligible for Medicaid, federal subsidies, or the ACA exchanges. And they do not pay a tax penalty if they go without health insurance. The lucky duckies.
Your tax dollars at work, Americans.
Pretty much what I was thinking last night when you posted about the updated version. They have spent millions of tax dollars trying to pass a bullshit bill (one of the many variants I mean) that somewhere between a quarter and a third of people are in favor of.

A quarter? No way. Approval for the BCRA was like, what, 11%?
Was being generous. Those are the estimates I have seen on the current version.
Susan Collins confirms what we already kinda knew: she’s a hard “NO” on Graham Cassidy
Paul continues to say he’s a “NO”, until block grants are removed. Since block grants are basically the backbone of GC, not sure how they make that happen.
And now they’re fleeing this sinking ship…

Ya, it is not coming up for a vote I suspect.

If McConnell makes his team vote, again, for a terrible bill… he’s just doing immense damage to the GOP.
Which is fine by me. The party needs to die and be replaced.
Repeal and replace the GOP.
