Hey, maybe he can peel off Klobuchar in the Senate!

This is amazing.

For the click impaired:

Company is running an obvious fraud system, to the tune of billions. The DOJ indicts them, and presents evidence. These folks are going to go to jail, perhaps for a while. The evidence is pretty clear cut of egregious fraud and wrong-doing, using parts of the ACA to defraud customers and get rich. All indicted plead guilty.

BUT…with the Trump administration insisting they’ll no longer defend the ACA on constitutional grounds, the lawyer representing the aforementioned grifters is asking the judge in that case to throw it all out or declare a mistrial, because the laws violated by these fraudsters were just declared unconstitutional by a judge and by the Trump administration.

So yeah.

What are the odds the aforementioned grifters contributed not-insignificant sums to the GOP and possibly Trump’s campaign?

I’d say about as likely as they, or one of their allies, having a membership at Mar a Lago or renting offices from a Trump property.

So yeah, Trump is handling healthcare just like DACA. He intends to create a crisis and then dump responsibility on Congress to handle it.

Democrats in the house should put together a comprehensive healthcare solution now. Take advantage of the vacuum on the GOP side.

Yes, this. Make em vote against a Healthcare policy, and take that into the polls in 2020.

Everyone needs to understand that modern conservativism is not a constructive thing. It only wants to cut, remove, and undo.

Challenge any conservative today that you know, as them ā€œif you could do anything, any policy, all the policies, what would they be?ā€ and aside from the occasional space nerd, most of them will only recommend cutting (liberal passed) programs, removing (liberal passed) programs, taxes or policies, or undoing (liberal passed) policies.

The modern Republican party is utterly incapable of constructive policy decisions on such a scale because they simply don’t think about them that way at all. If you put a gun to their head and forced them to do so, they’ll be thinking the whole time about how to cut taxes (for the donor class) and what can we do to undo liberal policies, and damn the effectiveness of the plan otherwise.

In all honesty, if I were advising Trump, here’s what I’d do.

I’d sit him down and say ā€œWhy did Republicans just HATE the ACA/Obamacare when it first launched? Like aside from the name, why did they hate it?ā€

ā€œBecause it was a Republican plan. And a black Democratic President co-opted it and got it passed, when Nixon, Reagan, et al couldn’t even get a House committee to consider it.ā€

Want to pay them back and piss them off and for sure win re-election in 2020? Do this: Take the ACA as written. Fix the wording that allows the loophole for states to opt out. Now add a public option to it – Medicare – on the exchanges. Call for an increase in funding to balance the risk pools. Boom. TrumpCare. Use your clout in the Senate to force them to pass it. Then dare the Democratic House to vote against a plan that they already support.

Seriously. One swoop. You supplant Obama’s name on the healthcare legacy for America, you win in 2020, and lots of folks will tell you how awesome you are.

I can’t imagine the Fox News talking heads would like that plan very much.

Trump has tons of political capital. Let him flex that.

Yeah, as @divedivedive notes, I think that would be a politically savvy play, but Trump’s economic advisory committee of Hannity, Coulter, and Limbaugh wouldn’t let him do it.

Oh, it’s a completely unlikely and improbable scenario, to be sure. Mostly, though, because I don’t think anyone associated with Trump has that kind of outside-the-box thinking skills.

Dems would take that deal happily and call it a win.

Trump would improve his re-election odds slightly, House Dems would improve it more.

McConnel to Trump: fuck off.

Trump isn’t gonna come up with a plan. That shit is hard.

He’s just gonna break the ACA in court, and expect others to fix it.

Because he’s lazy and dumb.

ā€œLazy and dumbā€ needs to go on his tombstone. Amongst other things.

Are we talking about Armando’s digestive system again?

I hope to christ I’m not leaving my digestive system behind on these tombs.

Also, Trump will probably get buried somewhere much harder to get into. And shit in undisturbed.
