This was an epic loss for him. This stuff does not happen normally.

This represents a complete and utter failure of his leadership.

No, but it’s hilarious how he’s trying to spin it towards the Dems already. ā€˜They didn’t even debate.’

You didn’t fucking let them.

I’m sure it has been a stressful couple of weeks. Hopefully he has mental health care coverage.

Curious too. I rarely watch this stuff so much as read about it later.

He only had power because of his legendary ability to get shit done.

Dear Mitch

How about bi-partisan approach. Hell, it’s worked for really tough issues from slavery, civil rights, taxes and tariffs, and even matters of war and peace.

I’m guessing McConnell went to tell Trump he didn’t have the votes, and Trump said ā€œCall it anyway.ā€

You don’t see stuff like this fail too often in the post-Hastert rule congress.

Can we hope that they take a bi-partisan approach to this, focused on the policy issues instead of the politics?

Is our government capable of that sort of thing anymore?

Oh man, the Trump tweetstorm is going to be EPIC.

Let’s review what happened in Trump’s world TODAY ONLY:

  • Scaramucci madness
  • Boy Scouts apologize for the President’s speech
  • Healthcare bill fails

Americans Will Always Do the Right Thing — After Exhausting All the Alternatives

Winston Churchill

Also, to echo what a few folks have said on the Democrats side: I’m not a big fan at all, but kudos to Chuck Schumer for keeping his caucus in line and unified throughout.

They could just change something and try again next week. When it failed in the house I was so annoyed that everyone seemed to think they’d never try again. It’s only expectation that people think they won’t try again in the near future. And this is a TRUMP Presidency. Don’t expect anything normal.

Little bit of trivia that is completely irrelevant, but the more you know ;)

No citations were given. The quotation books I consulted did not list this saying under Churchill. Is this statement really from Churchill?

Quote Investigator: Probably not. The earliest evidence located by QI of a variant of this saying was employed by Abba Eban who was an Israeli politician and diplomat. In March 1967 Eban visited Japan, and the New York Times reported on a remark that he made: Commenting that the passage of time offered the best hope of an end to the problems of Israel and her neighbors, he said: ā€œMen and nations behave wisely when they have exhausted all other resources.ā€

Possible, but they need to get a vote done on the Defense budget and I think a couple other very pressing matters before they go on break. I think this was the last we’ve heard of healthcare until the Fall.

Let’s get to work.

Smart of Schumer to invoke John McCain speech as the call for working in a bi-partisan fashion.

Also, the defense appropriation bill is a good example of bi-partisan legislation. McCain and Reed work well together.

GOP had 8 years to come up with an ACA replacement. The best they can do now is ask the Dems to create a new one. You can’t make this stuff up.

This is nuts. I said I would maintain my capacity for surprise, but this is over the top. The folks who write for Veep would say this just strains credulity.
