One other option is Best Buy has the G1 for $1999 as a halfway option - gets me the evo panel.

Note that the G1 does not come with a stand, fine if you want to wall mount it otherwise you will have to add in the cost of a stand.

It does wall mount beautifully, though. flat to the wall, screen only 2cm out.

The G1 has normal VESA mounts too? I’d be putting it on an existing articulating mount.

I’ve seen a C1 in person, but not a G1 before. Is the evo panel worth the $300 extra? (For reference, C1 is on sale for $1699, G1 is $1999, and C2 is full price at $2499).

Looks like it.

I don’t know about the panels. We really wanted the flush wall mount, so the G1 was the only option.

All the C1s came with EVO panels anyway these days, mine did. It doesn’t get you any extra brightness though unless you go into the hidden installer settings menus, which I didn’t bother to do. It might have more endurance or resistance to burn-in, or it might not, nobody really knows.

I would go for the C1, not the G1 or C2. Save some money and spend it on a high-end streamer box like an AppleTV 4k or ShieldTV Pro.

Also note if your previous TV wasn’t an LG OLED and you had it mounted to the wall that you will need to move the mount. Annoyingly the C-series of OLEDs has the VESA holes in the bottom third of the panel, because the top is so impossibly thin.

Thanks. That’s annoying about the mount!

Depending on what TV you are replacing it may not be a huge difference. The TCL I replaced had the mount points slightly higher but still lower than the middle.

What you really want is the new Samsung QD-OLED, although the 65" version of that is $3K

Really? I didn’t know anyone other than LG did this. It was a huge pain in the ass (for my super) to move my wall mount down a foot.

My replacement was larger so it worked out okay although I agree it would have been a real pain to move it.

For example of a TCL LED:

Oh yeah I imagine that would be perfectly fine.

A 55" C1 for $1099 at Best Buy…so darn tempting.

Down to $997 with a 4-year warranty if you follow these steps:

Picked up the 65 C1 today. Just got it mounted on the wall - beautiful picture!

I kind of hate the remote/input selection stuff since I’m not using any of the TV’s smart features. (Hooked up to an AppleTV 4K, PS5, and XSX). I’m very excited that I can now get Atmos out of my Sonos Arc (old TV didn’t support eARC).

Update for all you worried about burn in…

My Nov. 2017 55" LG still looks great, no permanent burn in but it does seem to pickup a temporary ones in super bright menus. It’s not our main TV but in my play room so it gets used quite a bit. Gaming, movies and sports mostly. FYI I bought it as an open box in early 2018 from Microcenter.

I am flirting with getting a 42" for my PC but we need a new big main TV (will be non OLED) as well so may have to hold off.

Random newb OLED questions/comments:

  1. Should I be using Game Optimzer for PS5/XSX? Should I set input lag reduction to boost? I have both consoles set to 120 Hz and VRR enabled on the XSX.
  2. It is definitely a little darker in a bright room. What do you guys use for brightness/etc settings? I looked at the recommended settings on RTINGS but still tweaking.
  3. I find it annoying that the TV doesn’t display volume level when connected to a sound bar. Found others complaining about this. I can live with it, but disappointing after my old TV showed it.

Yeah, use game mode and boost.

I use the RTINGS settings, but you can use the bright room one if you do, indeed, watch primarily in a bright room.

No fix to the soundbar thing unfortunately.

G2 professionally mounted today, no gaps. Little higher than I’d like so that the ps5 and Xbox can sit above it. Thought I was going to put a first gen hdmi 2.1 receiver in the mix but decided to get a new one and keep that one connected to my pc since it will only ever connect between the computer and the c2 that is coming.

65" ?

Also look at all them damn wires on the floor!
