Most of the top recommendations are bigger in one of those dimensions, but here are a couple that should fit and have pretty good reputations:

Thanks for those recommendations. If we went with a soundbar can we get something good for $300-$500? I’m not even sure what features to even look for. Can I get a decent surround sound system? Do I need some wireless rear speakers to make it work well, or do some of these have good virtual surround? I’m not someone who needs rumbly bass, so if it doesn’t have a subwoofer or if the subwoofer isn’t super powerful that is ok.

I bought a simple wooden shelf from IKEA and put the TV on it. It’s about 1-2 inches thick so it’s perfect for the Sonos Arc to sit in front of it.
I think it’s this one.

My wife built and stained a little shelf like that for our current set up. My problem is that I’m limited how high the TV can go due to the pictures above it.

Currently we have Hulu and prime video. Is there a lot of 4k content? I plan on resubscribing to Netflix to watch the Witcher, Ozark, and the walking dead’s last season. Netflix has a lot of 4k content, correct?
There is an increasing amount of 4k content you might want, yes. Netflix probably has the most but quality varies pretty wildly and you’ll need the top tier plan. Amazon has a growing catalog but some listing have separate 4k versions the last time I looked. Apple has fewer shows but IMO the quality of their content and cinematography are usually very good.
Disney+ is also a good choice. The Mandalorian and all the recent Marvel/Star Wars stuff are all 4K/Dolby Vision/Atmos. Very high quality.
HBO Max has decent 4K offerings too. Westworld looks great.
I also like how the dumb real tree is hidden behind a picture of a nicer tree :)
Is it reasonable at all for one person to install a 65”? I have a 55” that I have set up and moved through multiple moves without much trouble. I’ve heard a 65” is an order of magnitude harder. (I just have it on a sturdy entertainment center, not wall-mounted.)
I have no friends to help with installation so my budget would be happy if it’s definitely a 2-person job, but I’ve been drooling over 65” for a while now.
On the stand, you could do it solo if you were extremely careful and watched YouTube videos about how to put the TV on the box on a table etc. I wouldn’t do it solo, though. It’s insanely thin.
Mounted on the wall, absolutely not.
Yeah, no way I was able to lift a 65" by myself without extreme risk of damaging it. Ask a neighbour if you’re reasonably amiable with anyone?
edit: like, it’s not massively heavy, but the size of it means it’ll leverage in weird ways if you try yourself and honestly it’s just not worth it (at least that was my experience, fortunately I knew my limits and when to stop) .

Yeah I had this issue with my 65" CX. I got the stand installed on it while it was lying down, but there was no way I could tip it right-side-up solo. Thankfully I lived in an apartment building with nice neighbors at the time, so someone came up and helped me with the last part.
If you don’t have a neighbor, you could use a site like Task Rabbit to hire someone to come out for the 10 minutes or so you need help with.
It’s also possible that smart people on YouTube have designed ways to make it possible to do it solo. I suppose if you screwed a VESA mount into it then maybe you could lift it from the mount?

Ha, I never thought about it :-)
We use those tapestries to cover the windows when we want to - so it’s like art and curtains :-)
I haven’t done anything with it yet, but I can’t imagine it would be easy with one person.

I was able to do a 65" LG solo, but wouldn’t recommend it. Every step along the way got increasingly difficult, in ways that couldn’t be undone.
I.e. it’s really easy to take out from the box; reasonably easy to lay down on a flat surface for attaching the mount; absolutely terrifying to lift back up from said flat surface; and it took me week to figure out a grip that allowed me to lift it 30 cm from the floor to a pedestal…
You can physically do it, but the screen is just so thin that I would be really scared I’d break it.
Thanks, everyone. My budget remains safe!
I installed my 55" CX solo. I was breaking into panic sweats up until it was successfully mounted. :)
My current (50”) Vizio LED is starting to behave strangely - power cycling now and then, screen freezing once in a while. So I’m considering getting a new TV. I don’t have a ton of space over my fireplace so I figure the largest I can get would be a 55” model. Maybe 65” if I can squeeze it in. A sound bar would be nice too.
My current TV is wall mounted. Assuming I get one of those LG C1 models, will the existing mount work for a new TV or would I need to get a new one? The existing one is a pretty standard one.

If it’s a VESA (standard) mount, yeah that’ll work.
