One week to finish HL2

is WoW planning on doing another open beta?

I usually do, but when I get hooked on a new MMO I usually play it exclusively. Partly because I want to keep roughly the same level with my (apparently life-less) friends, but mostly because I love the early exploration phase of a MMO.
That makes sense, but then why not just wait to play HL2? If you never finished HL, surely it’s not so imperative to play HL2 ASAP…?
Like I’m not going to pick up HL2 when there are 240,000 threads on it here being updated every two seconds. :D

Maybe he was smart enough to stop playing when he reached Xen?

Yup. Real Soon Now, they say. Signups will be on www.worldofwarcraft.com, but my guess is its they won’t be ready for singups for a few days yet.

:(

Say it ain’t so, Sanestud Rywill!: :|. Have the Mongrol Hordes breached your stone walls? You should be  by the  to avoid the subsequent  , otherwise necessitating my :x

May I nominate this post for “most smilies in one thread” ;)

However, with all these high end (or “hyped” is a better word) titles coming out in such a short time, gamers around the globe are going to have a very light wallet for X-Mas shopping.

I hear ya, but for myself I’m just not going to read them (and pray that spoilers don’t spill all over the boards).

I liked Xen!

What is the big deal with WoW ? Is it really that groundbreaking ? I thought it was “yet another MMOG” ?

Not for me. Between now and Christmas there are only four games I am interested in - Pacific Fighters, Half Life 2, Pirates!, and Dangerous Waters. Hardly damaging to my wallet.

Well, I guess it depends on whether you’re into the genre, which I am. I played EQ for over a year before getting sick of it, and played DAOC for probably six months. Subsequent games like Shadowbane didn’t really do much for me, but I’m really jonesing for a good MMO experience, and WoW sounds like it will be it. It’s true that it’s “yet another MMOG,” although from all reports an extremely polished and well put together one. So it’s a big deal the same way that Warcraft 3 was a big deal despite being “just another RTS.”

I don’t think Half-Life 2 (Or WoW for that matter) will go away and not be found on store shelves after a week. So I’d say you’re safe, no matter which way you choose.

If you’re that worried that WoW will suck your life away and give you no time to ever play any other games again (it won’t) , just take the extra two or three days it takes to beat Half-Life 2 and then pick up Wow. Amazing concept.

Yes, I’m aware the “one week to play” thing is hyperbole for most of you, but at the same time, some of you are really thinking that way. And it’s a little weird.
