Open world encounter "density"

Don’t tell Derek, but I am really Chris Roberts.

Trigger warning.

This sounds like the greatest game of all time.

Sounds like honey badgers all over again.

You mean, Far Cry 5 doesn’t give a shit?

But apart from a few scattered lines of dialogue from characters here and there, I haven’t detected much of a cohesive message or statement about politics or religion or fascism or militias or anything, really, in Far Cry 5, at least not yet. I’m sure it would be a challenge to impart a serious statement in a game containing weaponized super-bears, but it’s possible the developers deliberately tried to avoid tackling deeper subjects altogether.

Nope.

So - not really all that much like a honey badger?

The STALKER games did a pretty good job with ambient AI/random world encounter (as opposed to mission/scripted stuff) density, I think, particularly Call of Pripyat. There are also tons of mods that affect the AI interactions, to raise or lower the amount of stuff going on. I always loved hearing gunshots and heading in that direction, to find a dead Stalker surrounded by a ring of dead mutant dogs or something. Or of course the old standby of watching two factions duke it out and sniping the survivors. Phat lewtz.
