It’s not just a random dragon that washed up to shore; it has a clear bone to pick with V, and it even knows V’s name. If it’s related to the first black dragon it would explain both the vengefulness and the similar appearance. Plus, the new dragon starts things off with, “Say Disintegrate one more time. For me,” which matches the disintegration death of the first dragon.

The author has a penchant for working in threads from hundreds of strips ago, and it fits together nicely.

Plus, there’s the quest for ultimate arcane knowledge which is achieved when he says the same 4 words to the wrong creature for all the wrong reasons… which is potentially what just happened.

I could be wrong, because I cant get the site to load at the moment, but I thought it wasnt the “same 4 words”, it was the “right 4 words”

edit to say-

I just finally got it to load. The quote is “By saying the right 4 words to the right being at the right time for all the wrong reasons”.

oops you’re right, it’s the “right” four words

dunno why i typed that

I think it has more to do with V being out of 7th level spells after that one. Especially since the dragon references him being able to escape and replenish his higher level spells.

More important than that,

I’m pretty sure that’s the most awesome fantasy related comic I’ve ever seen. I still think the strip is pretty lame, but that is one hell of a joke.

wat

And when Rimbo wats you you goan know you got wat.

I’m gonna add a ‘huh’?

every parent’s worst nightmare

i’m not rooting for the dragon any more

Yeah… that is not good.

He really needs to do something about his hosting. Everytime he posts a new comic the site goes completely unavailable for about 6 hours.

I did like the oracle’s line about having to banish a ghost human who thinks the whole campaign revolves around him. It would be interesting if it turns out the OOTS folks are not the real focus on the story Rich is telling but rather are the side story.

Everyone knows Thog is the true hero of this strip.

Roy’s just one member of the whole OOTS. The campaign’s about all of them. We just had a big Belkar moment, and now we’re having a big Vaarsuvius moment.

OK then, I’m wrong. It was the obvious plot point. Given past story twists, I just assumed the obvious plot point was the least likely to happen, but there you go.

So does this mean V heads down the road for ultimate power by calling on the powers of darkness to aid her in defeating the dragon? I hope not, that’s just TOO obvious.

Well, I we knew he was married, I guess we just found he had children as well.

He is definitely my favorite character in the strip!

Thog Lyfe!

We knew V was married?

On the assumption that this isn’t just pointing out my typo, yes, we knew V was married.

Rich mentioned it at a con I attended once, too.
