No, I just can’t remember that far back.

As far as I understand it, V’s sex is still (and will remain) unestablished. I hope we don’t get too far into “It’s Pat” territory with the kid…

Rich said some time ago that he planned to have us meet V’s spouse at some point. I should reread the forwards in the print book versions of the comic. I’m pretty sure there were a few other hints as to future plot points, but I think a number of them have already been shown.

One Chance

This seems to be heading in a pretty brutal direction.

Man, that is one bad ass dragon.

I don’t know that I have ever had such a love-hate relationship with a comic/story ever. That this is serialized makes it worse. If I had a dollar for every time I read one and think “Ok, done with this for a while…” only to keep checking back regardless, it would probably pay for the collected works of another author whose work doesn’t make me want to stop reading two out of every three strips.

Someone explain how the dragon disspelled the anti magic field - wouldn’t the fact that it’s inside it mean it can’t dispell it?

Is this the reason for the four right words to the wrong being?

It didn’t dispel it, it dismissed it. It was the dragon’s spell, so the dragon can flip the off switch on it whenever it wants.

He didn’t dispell the field; he dismissed it.

From this spell description: Duration: 10 min./level (D)

The (D) indicates that the spell can be dismissed at will.

Thanks - should have read closer :)

wow… awesome. I really never liked v, but I really feel bad for him now.

The dragon said “broad” which usually refers to females, which means v is a dude. I would assume that the dragon would have been able to discern her sex in his reconnaissance.

I think he says “brood”, not “broad”, but anyhow, the person depicted as V’s mate sure looks like a woman. But there is likely more to the story, since the kids have skin color hard to come by with two lily-white parents, and perhaps V is a lesbian.

I think the skin color of the kids is more of a riff on the coloration of 4th edition elves. Since they’re the next generation and all.

That’s what I thought as well until I started thinking “elf” (nothing agianst them) because depending on who’s drawing them they can have a fair number of feminine traits.

But what do we have here? Long hair? Am I missing something else there?

He went to a lot of effort to hide V’s gender by using that “Other parent” stuff to give it away with something like that.

Long hair on an elf is about as much of a giveaway as a beard on a dwarf, which is to say, who can really tell?

The spell isn’t anti-magic field, though, because the D20SRD version does not affect forcewalls or force cages. Yes, I’m being pedantic.

Technically that’s a grey area in regards to force cages :D
