You know who I miss? Team Evil.
I thought teleport was instantaneous. Shouldn’t that dragon be eating some elven moppets already?

Yes and no.

As you can see, there is a chance for spell failure, especially if you don’t have intimate knowledge of the area.
But since it sounds like he was there studying the area, he would only have like a 5-10% of ending up off of the mark.
Unless there was some magic aura around V’s homestead interfering with the teleport.
How do you know it isn’t?
Because I haven’t seen it.
So? Things happen offstage sometimes. While V’s talking, they may be dying. V may arrive to find his home in ruins, giving him a revenge motivation to deal with the imp and utter the infamous 4 words. Something like [khan]I shall avenge you![/khan], for example.
What, off importance, has happened offstage? Because I can’t think of any.

Since there are many (I’ve lost track of how many) things going on at once in this story, we can assume that other things are happening at the same time as this strip. Just because Rich hasn’t addressed what the dragon is up to doesn’t mean his teleport failed or wasn’t instantaneous.

Just so. We’ll be finding out what the dragon’s up to in 3rd quarter '09, possibly 4th.

I think I’m just going to get the books from now on. I can’t abide his horrible update schedule. He probably makes more money off of the book sales anyway.

More than he makes from you reading them for free? Probably!

I didn’t notice there were no ads anywhere around the comic. So he’s basically paying me to read his comic. I feel a little bad now.
The books are really nice. In the compilation books, he tosses in a bunch of bonus comics that flesh out certain scenes here and there, and at the start of each section he takes a page to talk a little bit about his process. It’s like having access to the director’s commentary in a movie.
I recommend the offline-only books wholeheartedly. Start of Darkness is a wonderful story, especially now when we see nothing of the original bad guys.

The “adopted progeny” line reveals something. But I can’t believe he’s spent this many strips on V arguing with the Imp.
if we know anything about v, it’s that s/he’s laconic to a fault?
Am I the only one who is just utterly disinterested in a plotline where Vaarsuvius sells hi/r soul? I feel like I’m reading more out of a sense of obligation than any genuine interest in what Rich is doing, these days… the strips since he left the Thieves Guild plot haven’t even managed to raise a smile.
