You want OOTS to end in seven weeks? Begone, hater!

I just meant the end of the arc. Although if he wants to end the whole thing then do a sequel or a new strip, that’d be fine by me.

Seven weeks in an interesting thing to have mentioned and probably means something. Seven weeks of in OOTS time could be considerably more time in RL. On the other hand, seven RL weeks doesn’t seem to sync up with anything important, as that would be sometime in August.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what it means.
I thought the seven weeks was how long Belkar has to before he “draws his last breath, ever.” Also, its interesting that Roy’s memories of the afterlife are compromised.
Edit: On another note, does anyone want to hazard a guess on who kills Belkar? I’m think of starting a poll.
Roy
A Kobold
Haley
Xykonian the Barbarian
V
Mr. Scruffy
Miko
The Theurgist
Celia
His own stupidity
That seems to cover the obvious angles.
I have a feeling that when Belkar snuffs it ‘for reals’ it’ll be the end of Oots. Thats just a feeling based upon how ‘key’ a character he is. Though I guess he could switch teams…
I wonder if Rich wants to try something a bit different now. Does he dare kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, or does Oots have years left still.
IIRC the Oracle specifically mentioned that the timeline was storyline and not real-time (while winking at the camera).
We also know that the Oracle said Xykon would get within a thousand (or was it a hundred) feet of Girard’s gate at some point. Xykon is now fixated on the gates again after the incident with his phylactery, but his leaving Azure City indicates the phylactery won’t stay lost for long? He wouldn’t leave it behind, neh?
Also, the Oracle didn’t say Belkar would be out of the picture. Only that he would draw his last breath ever. Given Burlew’s imaginative streak that could mean an awful lot of things.
For some reason I jsut had an image of a gilled Belkar in a giant goldfish bowl. Hmm…
I don’t see a good reason to stop OOTS, unless viewership is down or RB’s health is failing. It’s a pity we don’t know successful or unsuccessful the comic has been lately. With the creator not able to go to conventions or put out new books it would seem logical to figure that revenues would be down.

Mentioned already I think, but I am entirely expecting intelligent undead Belkar.
What would that be though? Could he become a lich, or is that mages only?
He’s gone out of his way to say that money isn’t an issue or problem, during the server outages and failures. Impossible to say if that’s true or not, but there’s no particular reason to doubt his word.
Traditionally, yes (they need to be able to craft a phylactery), although I’m sure there are alternative rulebooks with all kinds of liches (psionic lich comes to mind for some reason). Skeletal warrior would be an easy pick but I’d prefer something more exotic.
I eagerly await vampire Belkar.

I can see Belkar going undead on purpose, for his own reasons, just for the lulz. Maybe not as a Lich, but some other high-cognitive-ability, self-actuated undead creature.
Since Belkar obviously considers monogamy overrated, I really don’t see him willingly giving up the temptations of the flesh to become permanently bony.
Considering the whole Darth Vaarsuvius thing lasted less than an hour of story time, Roy saying 7 weeks to execute his plan could be 104 strips and more than two years of real time.

Not all sentient self-actualized undead are bony. Of course, they don’t sparkle in sunlight, either.
But now that I think of it, it would be really hilarious if Belkar did become a vampire, and did sparkle in sunlight. For one thing, Belkar would hate it. :)
If Belkar dies will something prevent his resurrection? If not, no problem at all…
I don’t recall the details of the strip in question or the wording, but I vaguely recall thinking it seemed reminiscent of Cerebus there…
Do vampires breathe? A quick google search says “yes” but that was far from extensive.
I think they’d find it hard to talk otherwise, but obviously drowning won’t kill a vampire in most myths, so they don’t really need to.
Seven weeks real time is the start of Gen Con
Something that always nagged at me when I was watching Buffy was how often they mentioned that vampires don’t breathe… and then the last season had Spike getting tortured by having his head held under water, and him gasping for air when he came up.
So from what I understand, vampires don’t have to breathe, and unless they’re talking, they don’t.
