Stuck in the Sand Trap

What happened in the last panel? Help me out here, Rimbo.

Sorry, but I read the request first.

More 4th wall. Obviously Roy was hoping to skip straight to something interesting happening, but unfortunately that didn’t happen, so he’s thinking: well, maybe another montage would work after all.

I hope Burlew stops emphasizing how conscious they are they are in a comic strip. Once in a while it’s funny, but it’s just annoying when they overuse the shtick.

2nd to last panel: “hopefully we can skip right ahead to finding the–” (gate).

They didn’t find it. Skipped right ahead, though.

I was kind of confused by the last panel, too. Mostly because of the way Roy’s sentence ended in “–” in the preceding panel. That punctuation usually means an abrupt end or interruption, presumably by the last panel. But there were enough other cues of time passing, like the night sky and V’s not being polymorphed, for me to get it.

A week spent writing a strip that achieves nothing. Maybe that’s why he takes so long between strips; he waits until he gets enough forum responses to decide how the story should go.

Im stupid, sorry.

So what is meant, that time passed which is skipped but they still didint find it, correct?

So whats with the Roys last sentence, how is that to be understood as somehow I just cant grasph the connection.

Correct.

So whats with the Roys last sentence, how is that to be understood as somehow I just cant grasph the connection.

Roy now thinks a search montage might be a good idea. He changed his mind about Elan’s suggestion. He now hopes they would find the gate by the end of the montage. His first wish did not come true so he now shifts his hope to an another storytelling solution; the montage.

Hope this helps.

At last again a double page:
Stopping for Direction

So what’s that eye thing?

I’d guess it was some sort of scrying spell the other gate guardians cast since they were alerted.

I hate to say it but i’ve been enjoying Erfworld more than OotS recently.

That was the scrying spell from the wizard who placed the magic eye, taking a peek at Soon’s cat.

I would almost agree with this, but I dont like the new artist on Erfworld nearly as much as the one from the first season.

Erfworld started out pretty bad, but the text updates really helped flesh out the world they are playing with, and I am actually interested in where the plot is going now.

Are we supposed to assume that the spell didnt see the OOTS members leaving and that the wizard will use the fact that Soon’s cat is there to assume his suspicions about Soon’s betrayel are correct?

I dunno. Seems like the obvious implication.

Yeah, Erfworld is interesting, but the art is now not so good. Funny that the detailed shaded art from Erfworld seems inferior to the stick figures from OOTS. One nice thing, though, is that Erfworld actually updates frequently, which makes the art more tolerable.

Hey, Sebmojo, is it just me, or is the strip moving really slowly?

It’s practically crawling! I’m surprised nobody has noticed.

Yeah, it’s ridiculous. They’ve been screwing around the desert wondering what to do for eight strips, which took two months of real time to produce.
