Or +11th level dragonborn.

If they’re dragonborn, they’re homebrewed, since Rich has said clearly that OOTS is not 4e.

Oh. 4th edition. Yeah, 4e doesn’t exist in my reality yet.

However, the breath weapon shown in the latest strip moves this out of demon territory and into dragon territory even in 3.5e.

Are Dragonborn the same thing as Draconians?

Wasn’t there at least one supplemental rule book that allowed you to take prestige classes that improved your racial abilities - Aasimar becoming more like a celestial, Dragonborn getting more dragon abilities etc. Or maybe I’m just mixing in some 4.0 rules…

Thinking of a Red Dragon Disciple?

714 This Whole Time, He’d Thought of It as the Snack That Got Away

So much for my theory…

No, it was specifically for people of half races and it applied generally to all of them.

So… anyone think the Oracle might be behind this attack? I mean earlier he seemed pretty peeved at the Order, but maybe that whole end of the world thing got him thinking.

Wow, cranking them out!

The purple lizard is a call back to a verrrrrry old strip, in case anyone was wondering.

Puns are for girls.

Ahhh, that was a good one.

I’m guessing they’re coming from Girard, the illusionist associated with the desert gate.

What? Why?

They are specifically targetting OOTS which means they know about OOTS and are responding to something about OOTS. That could mean they are responding to OOTS searching for info about Girard, or it could mean they’re attached to some previous villian that OOTS has already encountred. Given the location of OOTS at this time, it seems likely they are either allies of Girard or enemies of Girard.

They could be allies of previous enemies of OOTS, but they don’t seem to be Xykon-related. I suppose they could be Nale-related, particularly as we saw a glimpse of Nale-and-company quite recently and he is known to have rather bizzare twists to his schemes. I’m not sure if there any other lose ends out there other than Xykon or Nale.

I suppose they could be something entirely new – perhaps someone upset about Haley’s Aton purchases for example. But I think we should hope for all our sakes they are something which is related to previous plot points and drives the story forward.

In any case, I think the Oracle is highly unlikely. The Oracle seemed fairly matter-a-fact about Belkar killing him and his need to get resurrected, and the Oracle is a kobold, these guys don’t seem related IMO.

Isn’t the more obvious candidate some dragon genocide related revenge on Vaarsuvius? The assailants seem dragonish. Or is this too obvious?

That was my first thought.

Why would they want Elan, in that case? Elan and V were the ones who did the big sign in the desert.

Along with what ydejin wrote, the whatever-dragon-thing-it-is and the lizardman don’t seem to know quite who they have, but they do know there is are more than 2 of them. Also, the OOTS have been in town for a bit, and have been asking questions that would probably attract the attention of Draketooth or any of his associates.

I don’t think it’s any of the Familicide related dragons (let’s assume for a moment that there is some dragon out there that can exact revenge) because…how exactly would they track that back to V? It’s not like it* cast the spell; well, it did, but with some major help that may throw off weird signatures**. Also, why would they want Elan or even know about him?

I think the most simple (especially for plot related reasons) is that these guys were sent by Girard to find whoever tripped the alarm in the desert. I could very well be wrong though.

*Hell, the guys in the strip refer to V as ‘it’

**I’m not familiar with how to trace who cast a spell in D&D, so I may very well be wrong here. Someone with more familiarity can comment on this part.

Nale’s never had access to people that powerful.

Sebmojo and Brandon, you make a lot of sense, that’s probably it unless Burlew has an ace up his sleeve.
