The General can’t be to close to Elan, he just showed a surprising degree of competence last strip. Force Haley out the window to force V to cast his last spell to isolate the two groups and use it as leverage to get Elan to surrender, which in turn forced Haley to surrender (though it turns out she was just fine). All in a matter of seconds.

Wait, I get it…
Elan is LG, Nale is CE; Dad is LE, thus Mom was CG. Yeah? Amirite?
As usual, no.
I’m too lazy to find the strip, but one of the things Haley likes about Elan is, as a Bard, he can’t be lawful.
Bards can be any alignment; maybe you’re thinking of Barbarians?
Nay-le.
Unless he’s just so chaotic that he would lie about what alignment he is.

General Tarquin, hmm? Shouldn’t he be a Grand Moff instead?
Grand Moff is Lizardspeak for General. They don’t have any Qs in their language either.
Order of the Stick is still 3.5, and Bards are restricted to any non-lawful alignments.

Well hell… I haven’t played since 2nd Ed was brand-new, and back then the Bard could be any alignment that’s neutral in at least one axis. Which means I’m still wrong, but that’s because I’m old and senile, dammit.
Elan is Chaotic Good - same as his mother (confirmed in the origins strip).
Were they really? It’s been so long since I played 3.5, and I never could stand Bards… Plus, that’s one of those stupid restrictions that we’d probably have houseruled away. As if we ever really played with the Alignment rules anyway.
Yeah, I’ve never been a fan of the alignment restrictions, but in 3 and 3.5 that was the wording for Bard.
Hrm, I seem to remember one of the rulesets indicating that bards had to have “neutral” somewhere in their alignment, either as an indicator of lawfulness or goodness.
Bards are great but they get a bad rap because of their useless counterpart, the minstrel.

AD&D and AD&D 2 were that way. Bards could be only LN, N, CN, NE or NG.

I always did hate the bard class, and strange alignment restrictions.
Like monks in 3rd ed needing to be lawful, which seemed like an odd arbitrary restriction. Paladins at least made sense with theirs, since it was the core part of the class.
Substitute the word “order” for “law” there and it makes more sense. Not that it made sense, though.

It IS Fairly Spicy, However
Edit: Do we really need to keep doing this for every strip? I mean, it DOES have an RSS feed and everything.
