Yes, that’s the Empress of Blood. The lines show the throne cracking under her weight.

I think it’s something to do with the long time he’s meandered about setting up the plot. You know, the slowness and tangents that people often complain about. ;-)

It’s only slow if you constantly check for updates. If you read the books or catch up every few months, his pacing is usually superb despite the tangents. Rich is giving us an epic fantasy novel in cartoon form, one page at a time.
