It’s a good strip overall. I’d like to see the dragon and lizardman draw each other in the arena, though. It’ll save some time.
I’m going to have to use “you existentially-adrift sons of werebitches” in conversation somewhere now.
You know, it is kind of hard to get to care about the coming fights when the Lizard-y bounty hunters are such small scale villains when compared to the whole of the Empire.

Nale’s ending line is what makes the whole page worth it.

Yeah, it’s Celia’s ending line in strip 278.
Bah, I just lost some credibility or something there.
On another note, it looks like the next strip is up.

To regain some cred, the lady in the last panel is name “Niu,” as evidenced by this strip: http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0535.html .
Though, I just had a stray thought that Niu might in fact be Miko, despite the fact she was last seen dead and divided. They certainly look similar.
Oh for gods sake no. That would be stupid. She’s dead as a doornail that’s been cut in half and then bled to death after detonating a massive transdimensional force bomb.
I do like the idea that they think it’s the command word for the lead sheet.

It’s an awesome callback, but the quote works in the context of the strip too.
The Duel Everyone’s Been Waiting For
Okay, that was amusing. I wonder what sort of stat increases one gets in leveling from Lvl 1 Commoner to Lvl 2 Commoner.
I love the unconcerned look on Belkar’s face in the bottom row of panels.
This is a classic. I’ve loved playing up the the weird vulnerabilities that D&D mechanics give to 1st level characters in my campaigns for years. I even had the party on the ropes once again a pack of pissy house cats until the party druid remember what his handle animal skill did.
Awesome news: a new OOTS book has been announced, focusing on the strips that ran in Dragon magazine but incorporating other stuff as well. Sounds great:
• All 22 original The Order of the Stick strips that ran in the print version of Dragon® magazine from issue #338 (December 2005) to the last print issue, #359 (September 2007).
• Author commentary on the experience of creating strips for the legendary gaming publication.
• 8 additional never-before-seen strips that were planned for future issues, before the magazine was canceled.
• Edition Wars: Invaders from the 4th Edition Dimension: After the events of the magazine comics, our heroes are attacked by their mirror duplicates from a brand new dimension! Can the Order defend their old way of life from these strangely balanced invaders?
• Stick Tales: As the Order sails toward the Western Continent, they tell stories to pass the time, including Elan and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hoodlum, and The Tragedy of Greenhilt, Prince of Denmark. Classic literature, ruined in the way that only The Order of the Stick can!
• The latest issue of the best-selling The Adventures of Julio Scoundrél comic book, “Julio Scoundrél and the Curse of the Mummy Queen!”
• Extra mini-stories and other stuff that we haven’t even mentioned yet!
Cool, now THAT’s how you do a book for a webcomic!
Totally pre-ordered.
I can’t wait to read Little Red Riding Hoodlum.
Ah, Belkar, what Grimm hijinx can we expect from you this time?
