Yeah, the minister was counting the cost of the gladiator’s gear into the profit/loss figure. When they got the spear back, it changed the value by 2 gold. The last few panels really cracked me up from some reason, so I am calling this one a win.

That’s fine for him, but what about the spectators whose opinion he’s so concerned about? If he just allows them to escape, it cheapens the deed (and encourages others to try).

If you start a (say) 15th level character, you look up a chart of ‘expected wealth by level’ and spend that amount on magical gear and what have you. Similarly, a DM is expected to be doling out enough treasure in money and items to roughly match the appropriate number, which then provides a (very rough) guide as to the power of the PCs.

This looks more likely all the time. Aren’t twins hereditary, or something? Or maybe that was lycanthropy.

If the champion is unmasked as “Niuqrat”, a nice twist on the twist would be that he is even more brutal, ruthless, petty, and downright evil than Tarquin. And that’s why he was locked up.

So why does Roy hate Thog so much, again? I mean sure he’s in the Linear Guild, but he’s the lovable comic relief character! I would expect a facepalm from Roy, not cold rage.
