If you’re like me, you had to backtrack to 790 to figure out exactly what just happened with Haley. “…simply throw the figurine onto a firm surface…” Nice.

Me too. I was going to post here and ask what happened and how Haley got full-sized, but went back looking for what Durkon was last doing and discovered the explanation to Haley’s size-transformation in 790.

I think Rich knows that. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t tease the possibility though.

Edit: I’ve always thought there were only three elements to good story telling. Know what people expect to happen next, what they don’t expect, and when to use each. Rich is masterful at this.

Having Belkar’s long-foretold death come as a result of a good deed would be a great example of the satisfying use of expectation. Good because it’s predictable, rather than in spite of it.

Doesn’t mean he’ll do it, of course.
