Me too. I was going to post here and ask what happened and how Haley got full-sized, but went back looking for what Durkon was last doing and discovered the explanation to Haley’s size-transformation in 790.

806 Holy Enunciation up. Go go team Burlew!

“Cleric’s Feather Fall” is an all time classic, and we haven’t seen Thor in hundreds of strips, so YAY.

“Cleric’s feather fall” is a great gag. I’m looking forward to seeing the Masked Debt Gourd in action.

Huh, I didn’t think Cleric Spells could fizzle when the cleric wasn’t taking damage. What gives?

PS) Cleric’s Feather Fall was indeed legendary.

Did you read the last panel?

You might want to read the rest of the strip… ;)

Huh, I got a NOOTS.

The second to last panel puzzles me a little - who’s talking?

It’s Roy, in strip 783. Looks like Belkar really is growing a softer side.

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

/Vonnegut

It’s Roy, in a flashback.

I bet he’s going to wind up Chaotic Neutral. He’ll be somehow redeemed in his death, and thus perhaps resurrected.

Either that or after he picks up a +4 Wisdom headband so that he can cast more spells.

He’s growing a soul! Except, according to Speak With Bread, he’ll be dead soon, so it’ll be more of a soul-let.

Hmm… setting up for a heroic sacrifice by Belkar, which would then provide the context for the rest of the OOTS to actually go through with a resurrection?

Well - as long as we avoid an interminable afterlife special. Could be fun for a few strips, but no more than that.

I think Rich knows that. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t tease the possibility though.

Edit: I’ve always thought there were only three elements to good story telling. Know what people expect to happen next, what they don’t expect, and when to use each. Rich is masterful at this.

Having Belkar’s long-foretold death come as a result of a good deed would be a great example of the satisfying use of expectation. Good because it’s predictable, rather than in spite of it.

Doesn’t mean he’ll do it, of course.

Or maybe he’ll just take over for Kratos. I’d buy that game!

Intelligence Attribute FTW.

Poor Thog!

Well worth the wait.

Some great callbacks. “Stop talking.”

Also, for those wondering - here is the strip referncing using INT in combat - http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0791.html
