Agreed - it’s pretty nonsensical unless it’s just an extortion grab (which seems doomed to fail). Maybe they didn’t get their coloring book quickly enough?

Webcomic kickstarters have been a serious fail - frankly people who draw webcomics in the first place probably aren’t of the bean counter variety anyway. Erfworld raised $84,000 and just as suddenly nearly stopped updating the comic for months. In fact I’m almost certain te Kickstarter there was used primarily to “bribe” his artist to stay on, since unlike most webcomics he actually hires out the artwork and writes just the dialog.

I haven’t followed Rich and OOTSs Kickstarter but he raised a huge sum for what he does, and has made … 8? comics since it ended. That he actually had to show his hand in a bandage shows he was very aware of his failure to meet his obligations in a timely manner. Maybe this DoS is related to the kickstarter?

People often don’t remember that the main point of the OOTS Kickstarter was to get out-of-print books back into print. Not to produce special comics, not to produce more comics, etc… Those became stretch goals, but the initial surge of donations were all about making the books available again. At that, he’s succeeded amazingly well. If some doofus out there is DDoSing him because of a stretch goal being delayed, that’s just sad. DDoS in general is lame, but that would be a extra-dumb reason to do it. And if Rich really wanted to get a comic up, he could host it elsewhere temporarily and word would spread like wildfire. So, I think he’s happy to have a few days off for good reason.

Rob Balder from Erfworld does the writing and not the artwork. When whomever comes on to replace Xin Ye starts, they will be the third artist for the comic.

Yea the tragedy of Erfworld is that thanks entirely to Ms Ye it has some of the best artwork of any webcomic.

Given that Rich just recently did 9 comics in 9 days and that these are not the only comics he has done since the end of the Kickstarter ( by the by), do you want to revisit that guess of “8” maybe?

I’m not sure if the comic has a name. Rich has a temporary light-weight version of the website up because of the DDOS attacks. I’ve linked directly to the GIF to keep bandwidth low for now.
