We find out in 895, and it’s exactly what I would have expected from a Lawful Evil sort in this situation.
Yeah, that whole strip went down pretty much as I expected it to.
Me too. Which does make a difference from how the story’s been twisting and turning lately :)
It’s nice to see Roy get a chance to use those Cross class skills in Knowledge (Architecture and Engineering) for a second time.
896.
Take a moment to finish it.
… whoa.
Anyone have the reference of what V says about the Snarl the others don’t know? I can’t remember right now…
OOTS 672. Varsuuvius’ familiar looked into the snarl and this is what it saw.
“Now.” Wow. This is goooood.
Wow…
I want the next 10 pages. Like… right now.
What were the three evil things going to do? Reclaim her soul or make her pay for genocide by dragging him/her to hell?
No, we always knew they’d intervene at some plot critical moment, but I frankly expected it to be in the Grand Amazing Climax That Ends The Entire Story, not now. Rich has surprised me before, and he just did so again. What’s happening to this Gate is clearly more significant than I realized.
They have two more “uses”, remember!
They are going to take control of V’s soul (and presumably actions) for the next 44 minutes, 16 seconds. As for what purpose beyond stopping/ensuring that gate’s destruction is anyone’s guess.
Edit: Or after re-reading the strips and TurinTur’s post maybe just 20:35. Although apparently not just 3:06.
I don’t think they need to take it together, though…just 20 minutes 35 seconds this time…
Reminds me again how Burlew is a master of the narrative webcomic. Every page always has a point (punchline), and in the rare case when he can’t tell the part of the story he wants to tell on one page, he is never afraid to extend with a page or two. It’s why I’ve yet to take a pause from reading the webcomic, despite its somewhat glacial pace at times. Other webcomic authors should look and take notes.
Nice, very nice. The three fiends continue to be intelligent and somewhat charming villains, not slavering mustache twirlers. I love the variety of personality and purpose Rich gives his bad guys.
“We pride ourselves on our good customer service.”
Honestly, I just like the fact that they all seem to HAVE a purpose. Most webcomics leave me very meh on that. It’s a primary reason I like Girl Genius, though that one has been dragging on at a slower plot development pace than even OOS. They just did a fast-forward, but I think they’ve been doing the same three days for something like four years now.
