i want that spell he uses at the very very end
What’s curious to me is: The whole strip makes D&D jokes, from using spell names to classes to Thac0 and saving throws, so why does Rich draw the line at the name “Bigby”?
Using the terms from the rules is one thing, using the character names that are still copyrighted is another. I’m sure he doesn’t want to deal with fending off an attack of lawyers. So no Bigby, Mordenkainen, Tenser, or similar.

I just remembered that in one of my DnD campaigns, we so had an explosive runes moment. Our mage found some old books in the library of the dungeon we were searching through. (which was full of traps left by the master wizard)
And he was like… lets cast detect magic, find all the magic books, and open them.
Lets just say level 4 wizard vs 12 explosive runes = evaporation.
I was in the room too, but I was far enough back to miss most of the explosion.
It’s a twist!
Ok not yet, but that thing just kinda came out of nowhere.
Why was that thing swimming?
Are we supposed to recognize that dragon?
GiantITP forums are speculating it’s related to this dragon who V disintegrated. Similar look, but different eyes and horns (and size).
That was my first thought at well, that’s a relative/spouse of the only dragon the OOTS has ever taken down. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. V has got to be a pretty potent spellcaster if he’s throwing around disintegrates like that but a dragon will take a wizard to the cleaners one on one. Well, unless the wizard has specifically prepped for the fight and has had a few rounds to spell up first. Since V has had neither, and can’t teleport at all, I’d say he’s going to have to talk his way out of the situation somehow.
It seems to know his name, which is probably significant.

That’s why I had assumed that it was the same dragon they defeated earlier. I guess we’ll have to see what happens, unless we are about to spend a bunch of strips with a different part of the diaspora.

So the four words were “Disintegrate, disintegrate, disintegrate, disintegrate?”

They refer to the different dragon in this comic:

You can count on Rich to never, ever make a gratuitious reference. It may take 500 strips before said reference plays a role, but it will!
Oooooo, that’s a hideously evil use of anti magic field.
