Yep, game knowledge, experience and judicious trawling of the wiki and other resources is key here, particularly when playing with the skills that do lots of different things like Frost Blades.

But yeah, keywords are key and are very specific. If keywords match between things (gems, passives, items), they should interact. Exactly how they interact and how they optimally scale, is a different question that can take experimentation to answer.

One of my goals this league was to contain my hoarding. I always keep quality gems as mentioned above for the GCP recipe. Otherwise I am now only keeping drop-only gems, gems I know I’ll use for my next character, and gems that cost an alchemy to buy from the vendor.

I used to have to clean out a full page just of skill gems at the end of every league, now I’ve got the problem confined to a bit under 1/4 of a tab. Unfortunately my flask hoarding habit has gone somewhat unchecked, I tried, I really did.

It’s comforting to know others have the same problem I do re skill gems. And flasks as well lol. I think it’s a conspiracy by GGG to sell more stash pages. As are the additions of other “collectible” doodads like essences and divination cards. Given the burgeoning collection of gems I have, I think I may adopt the “save only quality gems” to use the vendor recipe and discard the rest, (save for those few that aren’t sold by vendors). It’s convenient to have on hand a gem you need, but I often overlook them anyway and go buy them despite having one in stock. Crazy stuff.

Buying the essence and fortune card stash pages made a huge difference for me. I love just dropping everything of that type that I find into those pages and having it all nicely visible and ease to find. The currency one, too.

Yes, I’ve got all three myself. Makes a huge difference in quality of life. Point proven.

Grinding Gears should make a Skill Gem tab. Find a way to organize all the skill gems in terms of DPS or something. Maybe 3 sections, one for each color. With enough slots so that every skill gem in the game can fit in it.

Yeah, I bought those pages during the sale a couple of weeks ago.

As for skill gems, I’m only keeping one of the higher level ones (somewhere in the 24-28+ range), and Vaal gems or gems with quality.

My biggest wish for the game is that you could slow down the game speed. During the boss battles especially, everything happens so fast, unless you’ve played it before recently, you’re not really ready for it.

Diablo 3 is a good example of this. As much as the Act V boss fight is scary, at least the attacks happen with a slower pace than the Malachai fight in PoE.

You think that’s bad? Wait till you get a dual turbo mod on a map :D

This is hands down one of the most fun characters I’ve ever played in PoE. It’s so much fun that I’ll probably try to remake it in the next league, sadly without the helm since it’s league specific but I think Thunderfist gloves will be a good fit too. In the video you can see a T16 trash clear, which is the highest tier of map (short of Shaper which is t17) in the game.

I don’t doubt that it’s fun, but your videos don’t LOOK fun, because everything just dies.

How is that not fun?!

Wow, so that’s what playing with filters is like huh? If I did a large area like that, I’d have to look through pages and pages of junk loot, looking for white belts, blue gloves, all rings, etc.

Yep, this is actually a strict version of Neversink’s filter. Regular shows a lot more, probably up to 5 times as much on a map like this.

Yep. Not a single unique item. And so far, no yellow gloves either. In fact, I’ve gotten almost no gloves to drop as loot so far in the game.

@ineffablebob was nice enough to drop some nice unique boots in the guild stash that I’ve been using though.

All this talk of trading, I’m not even sure what I would look for to trade. I tried searching for gloves on PoETrade, and set a level number, but I don’t know what is wrong with their filter, all the gloves it shows me are higher level than I can wear.

Don’t hesitate to make your own gloves with an alchemy orb.

I have. Since I can’t find any base gloves of a high type, I’ve been making only low level base type of gloves with alchemy orbs so far. They never came out with good stats, but they did help me get my resists up near full at least.

Gloves are kind of weird. Boots too. And even helms. I think all three of those, I’ve been wearing the same darned ones for 20-30 levels on my Juggernaut. Finding upgrades can be a pain. at least with my gear setup, the mods are more important than the base stats. High tier bases can get better mods, but getting the right ones can be a pain, and is it really going to help that much.

What I really need right now is to upgrade my chaos resist. To do that, I think I need better elemental resists so I’m using fewer pieces to get what I need. More life would be a big plus, too. Think I have around 4k at level 75. Would really like some more.

You might have put your level in the minimum box instead of maximum. I do that all the time when searching.

Lookie what I found! Unique strongboxes might show up a lot for elite players, but they’re pretty rare for me.
PerandusBox
Not a terrible haul.

Noice, I have only had one and it was a bit of a pain when I was under geared for the level.
