Well it also deeply hurts non-necro spectre usage who don’t get a +2 level from ascendency

That is an entirely fair point. You are correct.

So far, my favorite part of this league is shouting at the mobs, “give me your livers!”

Hmmm… I wonder how much the new Awakened support gems will counterbalance these nerfs. Awakened Minion Damage, Awakened Melee Damage and Awakened Multistrike, in particular have me salivating a bit.

I started the storm burst trickster build that is in the second video link above. It’s a pretty awesome skill… Is this new? I don’t recall seeing it and I’ve never used it before. It’s like you’re throwing popcorn all around the screen and the mobs die.

Also, for those of you in the Qt3 guild, there is already a piece of gear in the guild stash thanks to (I think) @ineffablebob

No it was a 3.0 introduction IIRC. But it got a pretty serious rework a few leagues back (can’t recall which).

Disclaimer: Gear is not good. :) Although I did drop a Wurm’s Molt over on the uniques tab, that’s handy if anyone’s leveling a physical damage toon.

I wasn’t claiming the gear was good, I was simply impressed that in <90 minutes, someone was already dumping gear in the guild stash (Incidentally, I love that people throw stuff in the guild stash, it’s like Christmas every day!).

I just got home, and I’ve set Path of Exile on the path to check my resources.

Hopefully all the resources will be checked by tomorrow I can start playing.

I hope I have enough hard drive space left. I think the drive it’s installed on has only 4 GB left.

I’ll be starting playing in a few hours when I get home from work. Glad to party up with anyone interested. Fair warning. I am likely to be drinking (a lot) whilst playing. So dying a lot is likely a thing.

Personally, I rarely do much party play while leveling. Tends to be difficult to keep everyone on the same task…which act is everyone in, which quests have been done, etc. Once everyone is on maps, that problem largely goes away, so it’s fun to get a group to go forth and murder the fauna.

Not sure what a map is (you guys have described it a few times, but I just can’t grok it completely), but I’d think it would be easiest on the first night of a new season like tonight, when everyone could start characters together.

Edit: Btw, for anyone wondering, it looks like my remaining hard drive space shrunk by less than half. So I think this update is slightly less than 2 GB. So I still have some room left! Going in now.

I’m trying to follow this build, but holy shit, I made my first Metamorph, and it almost killed me 3 times before I finally killed it. I don’t think this character is going to last long.

Careful with those low-level metamorphs! Like most new league content, it can be really dangerous if your character isn’t ready for it. I’ve had no significant issues since I got up into Act 2, mid-teens level.

It’s pretty exciting. Each metamorph is a pretty unique and tough boss that’s quite different from other stuff you fight in the game. It’s a really clever addition to the game.

I’ve started the skeleton necro that Bob linked above and it seems to be super easy to level with. I’m also glad I decided to roll a summoner in general because of the league’s theme - it just seems fitting :)

I got to The Ledge checkpoint tonight. I think that’s enough. I’m sleepy enough that I’m starting to make mistakes, which is very dangerous in hardcore. Three Metamorphs killed so far. Unfortunately in the previous area, I just couldn’t find a brain to finish the Metamorph. I didn’t know that was a possibility, not being able to finish.

This league has made leveling much more enjoyable for me. Somehow just switching from praying for blue packs to actively hunting green dots for organs makes it feel like I’m more involved.

Also, minor decisions to make such as chasing down the final part which is in the wrong direction or just proceeding to the next area. Which hasn’t been much of a decision thus far as I’ve chased down the parts every time because the Metamorph fights are great. A terrible decision in terms of efficiency, but still the correct decision for me. I’ve died to one Metamorph, and crashed from one.

I’m finding the bosses a lot tougher so far. Not surprising since they buffed them. And the metamorphs are interesting but I’m finding I rarely go out of my way to get the one remaining organ type I need when I’m getting ready to exit a zone.

As far as I can tell, there’s always enough organs in the zone to finish…but of course, finding them can be a challenge. Like @Charlatan, I’ve several times been short a liver or whatever, and just decided not to bother going back to find the one dude I missed. It seems to be random as to the mix of organs - you can look at the build-a-metamorph screen and it’ll show you what’s in the zone by the empty slots. Sometimes a couple of the types have just one available, and it’s easy to miss.
