I had this happen a few times in Acts 1+2. It might be a bug, but either way it’s a pain to backtrack and I’m way overlevelled already, so I’m going to stop searching for the green dots until I get to maps, or maybe Aqueduct if I wanted to farm them.

To be clear, for the area where I couldn’t find the brain, I back-tracked and revealed every single inch of the map and killed every single enemy. So there just wasn’t a brain in that level, so the metamorph couldn’t be finished. I even went through the whole revealed map three times, over and over because I thought maybe I just missed something, but there were definitely no monsters left.

Every time there is a big patch/update like this, I want to try it out again, but I get totally overwhelmed by the choices and the need to map out builds, and do as much work as it takes me to do my actual work stuff.

So apparently there is a bug (I just got up so if it was hotfixed I am unaware).

Very occasionally organs are dropping as Un-Id’d but you can’t notice this. However, the organ inventory screen won’t show organs that are not identified. So either you picked up the missing organ (unaware) and it doesn’t show up or it dropped but was secretly invisible or something. I am not clear on the last part but ZiggyD was talking about it on strema last night. The good news is if there’s not a fix there ought to be one soon.

There are like 50 reddit threads begging GGG to make organs auto-pickup a la Azure.

Ah, well, that probably explains what happened to @Rock8man. A bug, in a new league?

I feel that pain, but I gotta suggest…let someone else do the work! Just follow someone else’s build as your league starter. You can always make your own build as a second league character.

Having said that, I’m not following my own advice. I started the league with a summoner, of course, because I always do. But instead of just following a build, I decided to try to level up with Infernal Legion on my Skeletons. The good news is that it’s working well through the first 5 acts, and it’s fun to watch the skeletons walk around on fire and then blow up (thanks to Minion Instability). The bad news is that I’m pretty sure it’s not gonna be good past the first tier or so of maps, since I’m already noticing that the damage just isn’t that great against bosses. But hey, worst case I can just do a respec into a tried-and-true physical skeleton build, as this burning version isn’t different by a huge number of passive points.

Metamorph Protip: it’s not clear whether the organ rarity affects the chance that it adds a bonus drop. But you should be checking the whites you picked up. Some guy on Reddit got a “drops a 6-link weapon” on a white organ.

Ah. I definitely saw that happen.

I like this game and have a lot of hours in it, but these 39 MB patches that take a freaking hour to apply are going to put this in the never install again category. This has become actively infuriating for me.

FYI, the standalone client patches much faster than the Steam version because it can just modify the database file in-place (the download rate is a tossup, but GGG usually posts a torrent before new leagues). You can contact GGG support to get an email login attached to a Steam-only profile.

The big Content.ggpk file can be copied from the Steam install to the standalone client so you don’t have to re-download it, but if you MOVE it, and the standalone updater modifies it, Steam would probably have to re-download the whole thing if you tried to move it back.

Edit: also, installing it on an SSD is considered mandatory these days. Presumably this impacts patching as well as gameplay.

Perandus nooooooooo.

I don’t know if he always spawns if you do a “drops perandus coins” organ, but that would be cool if he did (this was only the 2nd or third organ of that type I had seen). 3c would have been nice.

Cadiro has no knowledge of ecnomics! :) I got one of those earlier, too, but I was lucky…my guy had 3 fusings for a reasonable 90-something coins.

I’ve had 3 perandus coins organs so far and Cadiro has shown up each time, so if it’s not 100% chance it’s a reasonable chance and I’ve gotten lucky to boot. So probably 100% given my luck!

This build is fricking AMAZING for leveling. I’m blowing through zones like I’m endgame geared. One of the most enjoyable leveling experiences so far (just killed Kitavar).

@ineffablebob: What’s your take on Necromancer’s Bone Barrier vs Essence Glutton? The guy in the guide used Bone Barrier in the past but now seems to be recommending EG. I can’t quite decide which one seems stronger on paper just by looking at the tooltips. Do you have any firsthand experience?

As a general rule, Essence Glutton is better if you’re using Mind Over Matter, since the extra mana is basically extra life, on top of the ES regen. Bone Barrier is better if you’re going without MoM.

Also, Essence Glutton used to have some pretty nasty performance issues, to the point where it would sometimes cause crashes in big fights. Far as I know that’s been fixed, though.

Screw it I am telling everyone it’s 100% and using you as my source.

~4.0~ 2.0 is going to make so many changes to this game I and we have more legues coming before then to boot. But this strikes me as maybe the best way, so far, to do something like a Perandus mechanic. With Blight, he didn’t always spawn when you looted Perandus chests. If he really does always spawn here, then it’s part of an interesting piece of decision making. If a Perandus organ is your only option in a slot, sure. But what if you re choosing between this and, say, a unique drop? Or something else interesting. I quite like it like that. The only pain will be when you are the guy/gal/etc who does a Perandus and Perandus shows up with something amazing that you can’t buy. But he was already really like that.

Thanks, that explains it. I am using MoM (as per guide) so I’ll probably go with that option. But Bone Barrier still seems appealing.

I used Bone Barrier last league due to that performance issue with Essence Glutton, and it works just fine. Biggest issue is remembering to use it, since it can’t be auto-cast with CwDT or the like. You’re not going to gimp yourself either way, though.

My update only took an hour, since I have it directly through their client. Yay!

However, it said at the end, PathOfExile.exe hashfile was wrong. So it started over and it’s checking resources again. Boooo. I really was hoping to play again today, and had a window where I’m alone in the house for once. Oh well.

You guys need to stop talking about how awesome your Necromancers are, or I’ll drop my Storm Burst guy to make a Necro! Storm Burst is still doing great around level 40 - still trying to get out of act 4. My only difficulty is that I’m mana starved and I I only have 60 free mana so I have to drink my flask like crazy.

My fun little hybrid cremation/necromancer is turning far more into pure necromancer with just a little cremation on the side for bosses.

Skeleton mages are working too well. I really want to use Cremation, but it’s just so slotted into the boss killer type skill that I can’t justify it. I still cast it regularly just to see pretty volcanoes though, even if they’re completely unnecessary.
