Hit the limit of my current build and gear, I think. Did a couple red maps that killed me a bunch, and then a 2-watchstone Drox boss that I simply could not kill. Got him to about 25% life, then he went invulnerable and all these banners and mobs spawned. Killed a ton of stuff but he never took damage again, and eventually killed me. No idea what I was supposed to be doing, but clearly I was missing something or maybe simply not able to kill adds fast enough.
So I suppose I’ll have to break down and actually upgrade my gear on the market. Spent about 30 chaos on some more life on gear, but I’m not sure about the damage. The obvious choice is to dump the Infernal Legion burning idea and go back to physical damage, but I’m too stubborn to give up on it yet.

And I’ve never seen a map. Are you all the way through Act 10 already? Maps are post-Act 10 right? I think the farthest I ever got with a character was Act 5.
Maps will start to drop around act 8 or 9, I just got one this morning. After completing act 10 you get a quest from Zana that I believe unlocks the ability to run maps.
You’ll start seeing maps drop around level 60, but you can’t use them until after Act 10.
Yep, like much else in this game, you’ll likely have to buy 'em unless your RNG is just feeling generous. They’re usually just a couple chaos on the market.
Fortunately, I have had a few Chaos drop so far. And … for the first time ever… I had an exalt drop (it shows up as a little star on the minimap with my loot filter).
Drox is the unwanted return of overlapping allies cannot die mods. Two or more banners can spawn giving allies cannot die and so nothing can be killed unless you can kite it out of range of the banners.
That’s probably the most annoying thing about this otherwise super fun expansion, though I also have issues with ground effects being colored the same as all the stuff around it.

By the way, protip for dealing with PoE’s annoyingly limited chat system: create a character in standard league named the same as your account. I have one named “ineffablebob”, for instance. Then any time you’re online, someone can whisper that name, and it’ll be redirected to whatever toon you happen to be playing.
The only restriction I know of is that console accounts and PC accounts are in different worlds. We’re all on PC here, far as I know.
Ah, regression testing failure strikes again! Well, I don’t feel so bad about failing that fight now, as kiting bosses around with minions is damn near impossible. The horde doesn’t do well with “disengage”. Hopefully gets fixed in a near-future patch.
I still decided I’m gonna switch back to pure physical damage, though. Did the Uber Lab and got my fourth ascendancy, and as I was deciding what to take I realized that there was really nothing that helped the flat fire damage you get from the burning skeletons. Ah well, at least it worked nicely for the leveling process.
Also, liver collection continues to be a lucrative pursuit. Got a Beachhead unique map from the metamorph in an Arsenal map just now.

I started last league with a skele Necro but I switched at level 80 out of boredom. My setup was Vaal Summon Skeletons + Minion Life + Minion Damage + Unleash + Infernal Legion, Minion Instability, lots of minion life + damage passives, +3 skeles from gear + passives, Flammability + Vulnerability curses and Pride aura, and Maligaro’s Lens with Necromantic Aegis to make the skeles burn down faster and heal my party when they die. Some phys, some burn, mega BOOM. VSS just outright deleted bosses.
That sounds crazy and very tempting to try! Maybe I’ll try it out later on in the league.
My minion Witch died. Level 27 in the Ancient Pyramid, Act 2 against a metamorphed bear. I didn’t even realize I was being hit until I saw the option to resurrect in town. I thought I was well away from him, he was surrounded by my minions.
I just have to think about what character to make next.
Some of those metamorphs have movement skill attacks. I’ve come close to dying multiple times before I learned to watch for them (which is hard because at least some are black slime burrowing attacks which aren’t easy to see).
I haven’t played hardcore in quite a while now, but I’ve gained even more respect watching some streams of it this league as they carefully pick which attacks they can handle and plan out areas where they can dodge certain attacks.
PoE is just getting a bit too hard for me. After watching the new endgame fight, there’s simply no way I’ll ever do that without ridiculous gear that trivializes it. They’ve reached the cap of my skill, so I’m not sure how much longer I’ll keep going. But, I’ve thought I was done before and I’m still here.
